Well, all I have to say about this place is I never save anything here much less a lot. This grocery store is so expensive! I would rather drive out to Kroger than shop here. Absolutely ridiculous prices!

Everything that I have bought there has been good, especially the meat. People just complain regardless of what they have!

Somebody always has something to say...most of the time it's negative. At least there is store in town.

What do you mean -"At least there is a store in town"? Should we be lucky to have a store? We are a community, a school, a bank, furniture store, funeral home, insurance agency, medical clinic, convenience stores, gas stations, restarants, car wash, dollar stores, drug store, law office, beauty salon, flower shop. Should we be lucky to have a place to spend our money? Our money spends at Kroger or Walmart just as well as it does in Whitesville. Whitesville deserves a better grocery store than Save-a-lot. I think it will be just a matter of time before they will have no choice but to go with another name chain store. I never see anyone shopping there. Only out of desperation. I think the only thing Save-a-lot has did for Whitesville has been to increase sales at Family Dollar and Rite Aid. We need a good grocery store and not one that you have to shop out of cardboard boxes.

I, personally like the store. I haven't bought one thing that has disappointed me! Whitesville should be considered fortunate to have a store, I don't see "investors" standing in line to finance a grocery store. People just like to bitch, never happy!

I shop at Sav-A-Lot by choice because it's good food and saves me money. I wanna see you go to Kroger or even Wal-Mart and buy groceries, then factor in what you spend on gas, and when you go to these places I'm sure you stop for a meal along the way. Now add that all together and you are paying more than you would if you shopped at Save-A-Lot. Never in my life have a seen a bunch of welfare trash be snobby name brand only shoppers like here in Whiteville.

I am by no means snobby. I shop at Save-a-lot out of necessity. Most people do not shop there. It is owned by the same as Fast Chek. I think the owner got greedy and thought he could make more profit by not having to pay for the FasChek name. Anyone will tell you their business is not what FasChek was. People act like Whitesville should be grateful to have a store. I know you will spend more by driving 40 miles one way to shop but most people are in Charleston or Beckley once or twice a month. I think people are shopping elsewhere and only shopping Save-a-lot for necessities. Money talks and when the profits are not there, the store will have to change. The staff is nice and their produce and meat is good. People like choice and it is bad when you can't buy Duncan Hines cake mix, precooked bacon (any brand), Kelloggs cereal, Kraft cheese, etc.

Of course you don't consider yourself snobby, no one ever does. What I should have called you was a label whore. You worry more about what the name is on the label than what the price is.
Yes, Whitesville should be very glad they have a full grocery store. I grew up in a town that had a little maxi mart where milk was nearly $4/gallon. Now that's a place you only shop out of absolute necessity. We had to drive nearly 40 minutes to groceries and well over an hour to Wal-Mart, fast food, etc. So suck it up and be glad you have a pharmacy, grocery store, dollar stores, funeral home, flower shop, etc in Whitesville because not everyone has it as good as you do.

I stand behind my comment. Sme of these comments seem as thoough we should be lucky to have a store to spend our money. It should be the opposite. Stores should be grateful for customers spending their hard earned money at their businesses. Just like it is so hard to find good employees anymore. Some people act as though you should be grateful they are working for you instead of grateful to have a job. Like I said, I just want to be able to go to a local grocery store and buy Duncan Hines cake mix, Oscar Mayer bologna and Kraft cheese. Why is that asking too much? I don't care one bit to use off brand certain items, cereal, pickles, milk, even soft drinks. But why shop at a grocery store for off brands when you can just stop at the local dollar store? My dollar is worth a dollar there just the same as Save-a-lot.

Then shut the hell up and go to the dollar store. Find something new to whine about.

Last time I checked, this forum can be used by more than one person. This subject is open to those who agree and also those who disagree. The idea of these Topix forums is to have a discussion in a friendly way. If you disagree with someone's view, then so be it. It is their right to speak. Using profanity in a response just shows disrespect for anyone who uses this site and also shows their ignorance. Peace.
