Hopefully, they won't be hiring any illegal aliens and will be loyal to those who gave them their rise to fame and fortune.

Tax abatements again

Here we go again. Tax abatements proposed for a decade. The low paying jobs as indicated by the estimated local income tax revenue will not offset this boon for Boone County. I suppose the homeowners will again be taxed to pay for this abatement.

I guess a distribution center job is better than no job.

Didn't at one time you ran a flower shop? Most of the fresh cut flowers supposingly come from undocumented workers. So I guess at one time, you helped them and made profit from them. Interesting.

There is no need for the homeowner to be taxed. Pretend the company didn't settle there. Your taxes are what they are. Now pretend there are 1200 jobs there. Workers buying coffee, lunch, gas, etc. THAT is the boon to the local economy. The cost to the county is police and fire protection. At $333k in local revenue, this will pay for itself. The tax abatement changes little.

I guess that could be true if Holland hires illegal aliens.

I purchased from Holland's auction house since I had more than one flower shop and needed flowers year-round.

Maybe this will mean my shipping times will be shorter.

Items sold by Amazon.com are taxed when they are shiped to destinations in Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, or Washington. These are the states in which Amazon.com has offices or distribution centers.

Currently, Amazon does not charge sales tax on items shipped to Indiana. Open a distribution center in the state, and that will chcange.

I do a lot of shopping online -- thousands of dollars a year at Amazon. Open a distribution center here, and my shopping at Amazon will quickly drop to $0 annually.

No, not shorter -- many items ship from KY. Instead, it means sales tax & you'll pay more.

For a 10 year abatement I hope they signed a lease for at least 30 years...
Then again they were dealing with the Whitestown town council, the same group that paid $5 mil or so more than Boone Co. utilities was worth....

Hey idiot... you are supposed to claim that unpaid state sales tax on your Indiana income tax! Nobody does, but then most people don't go online and confess!

Way to go!

"The distribution center would employ more than 1,200 employees at an average wage of $12.50 an hour."

I foresee a bunch of sumb!tches wanted to start a union soon, as they will become frustrated with making what they're worth.

Forget learning a new skill in demand.

You spend thousands a year but cannot spend another 60 bucks per thousand for taxes. You probaly complain about tax abatements at the same time.

Not all of Amazons products are sold by Amazon. Retailers place goods on their site and the order is still fulfilled by the retailer versus Amazon.

They're also building distribution centers nationwide and allowing retailers to ship out of the locations versus just their home office warehouse.
