There are NO bad dogs, just bad humans. If dogs are taught the proper way to behave, with discipline, love and respect, you will get back ten fold what you invested. Give me my dogs any day over humans.

It is NOT always in how they have been raised. As we have seen in recent cases involving hand raised lions, tigers and such. It's ANIMAL INSTINCT

To clarify that, obviously even my arguement is flawed because a dog cannot truly be told to bite down on something as hard as possible so the tests will be skewed. All I'm trying to show is there is NO conclusive evidence to show the myth of pit bull bite strength as truth. If I can pull a toy out of my bullies mouth with just on arm and a strong tug then I must be one strong dude if he can clamp down that hard.
This entire defense of an animal the was bred solely to fight is totally beneath me. I could care less about bite strength at any level.

Also I try so hard not to profile people, but typically it is very easy to do with the owners of these animals.

What makes people want this breed of dog if only for a pet? I never see these dogs off of a leash or out of a kennel? Reasons? please share your thoughts, I think deep down we ALL know why this is. You aren't going to tell us but we both know.

There is a difference in "lions, tigers and such" and a domesticated animal, dog.

Dogs, give what they get. If they get abuse, and they will accept a lot, sometimes they will "bite the hand that feeds them", not often, but it does happen. Dogs offer more love and compassion than they could ever receive from their "owner". I will never blame the animal for the "bite", I will always blame the owner and so does the law.

someone told me once if your dog does something wrong like chew your shoes, or something in the house, you should roll up the newspaper and "HIT" yourself on the head. It's your fault, not the dog! You haven't done your job.
thought I was gonna say hit the dog...ha ha.
Dogs love attention, love training.
Work with your dog and you'll have the greatest companion around.
Without it, you have an unruly pet, that doesn't know who the alpha is.
Dogs are pack animals, the leader is the alpha.
You are to become that once to get a pet. This does NOT by any means you have to use any excessive force, no hitting, kicking, etc. Use positive reinforcement for training your dog.
If you don't know what to do, find a great dog trainer and go to the classes.

We have a 99% wolf dog and he is a big baby. He is very smart and knows what he can do and can not do. Now he is getting very old and i dread the day when something happens to him. If you give a dog love and show them kindness then thats what they show. he is very Territorial, but we have 3 small dogs and he knows he is not to hurt them and acutely takes up for them. We had a squirrel that I raised and he knows he is not to bother it.LOL He is about 150 are more pounds and he is a big baby.

I have a friend who raised her chow by hand on the bottle from about 3 weeks of age. The dog was about 3-4 years old when it attacked her 4 year old and split his head from front to back. As FOR HEAVENS SAKE said - Animal Instinct. Domestic or not, they are just animals.

I know this will seem mean, but how did the kid treat the dog? Most kids are not raised to be good to animals are to treat them with respect. I see a lot of kids hitting and kicking animals. When they try to hit are kick mine I tell them flat out that that kind of behaver is not acceptable. If they can't pet and love them they are not allowed to touch them.

I just don't believe that dogs "turn". I believe that either it's genetically there for them to be aggressive and/or that those aggressive tendencies have been exhibited long before an attack, just overlooked as an excuse for his breed.
My girl came to me at 3 years of age, I approached her food dish one day and she growled at me. I politely grabbed her collar, told her no and took the food away.
She has never growled at me again, never. She knows I mean business.
She's a loving dog, but wants to be the alpha of this house. She learned very quickly and w/out a fuss, that I am.
I've seen pit bulls in action. They will bite and hang on to another animal and not turn loose. As to how strong the bite is, I don't know, but they will not turn loose.
One of my dogs was attacked 2 times by 2 different pits. Not pretty. Fortunately, I beat the 1st one off, and the owner killed the 2nd one w/out my dog having too much damage.
Pits are more animal aggressive than people aggressive. When they decide to attack a human, it's usually provoked. When they decide to attack another animal, it's the prey drive in them.
btw, I do not, nor will ever, own a pit bull.

all dogs have the same instinct not just one breed. the pit just gets the attention due to stupid people fighting them. all dogs will do the same. i know people with cocker spaniel, chihuahaus, german shepards, min pins and blue heelers that are meaner and will bite and attack for know reason. so i geuss no body needs these either.

Very true, There's other breeds other than Pitbulls that are more aggresive towards humans but it doesn't get the same attention as to when a Pitbull attacks because of the damage this dog can cause. They are very powerful dogs and at the same time on of the most loving and loyal dogs you can ever own, if on the hands of the right (RESPONSIBLE) Person. Unfortunately because of its history as the Ultimate fighting dog ,that breed attracts alot of People who get them for illegal purposes and raise them in hostile environments. These people are the Mosnsters ,not the poor animal who's being bred to be mean. By the way i do own a 6 year old Pitbull , I admit, I was skeptical about it at first but it turns out that its the best dog i ever had.
P.S.(Nothing against other breeds) i've had Rotweillers, Dobermans , German Sheperds in the past.

Her son was taught the right way to treat the animal and even used to sleep with the dog. He was a house pet. Never aggressive at all (not even around food as some are) until that day.
