Was going to start work there soon but this possible strike has me re-thinking because I will not cross the picket line. Any ARH employees got any input? And do you think the strike is likely?

If I were a betting person I would bet the people on here giving the Whitesburg ARH so much grief are just angry because they weren't given pain pills when they used their medical card (which we working people pay for) to go to the emergency room. This county has been taken over by uneducated and drug-addicted fools.

I neither work at the Whiteburg ARH nor am I involved with the medical community in any way. However, I think I am intelligent enough to know that Letcher County is lucky to have a good little hospital with a number of doctors who are among the most highly-qualified in Kentucky. Our hospital and its doctors have helped save the lives of some of my close relatives and friends, and for that I am grateful. It just bothers me when people who have little idea of what they are talking about get on sites like Topix just to throw out half-baked criticism that has no basis. From my perspective, it's usually the less educated among us who do this, often because they were turned down for pain pills after yet another trip to the E.R. on our taxpayer dollars.

Can't imagine why we'd consider striking. We're already making more than any other Medical facility in the region now. I can see the MCHC going under because of their pitiful staff but, now our workers want us to follow suit and join the unemployment line. Let's see them finance their lifestyle on $1500 per month compared to the $4,000.00 per month they're used to making. I make $65,000.00 per year now plus bonuses and very happy to be here. They're not using their heads at all. Come on people....Let's work and keep on driving those BMW's, Lexus and Cadillacs we're used to. I'm a year ahead on my Lexus payments and hope everybody else is on theirs! Jobs are hard to come by right now.

I feel with the crappy proposal we will be on strike if something doesn't change next week, and those of you who think we should vote yes, I hope you aren't off work with a serious illness or accident for over 24 weeks cause ya will be TERMINATED, read the proposal and decided for yourself

Jobs are really hard to come by right now so people should be thankful they even have one.

Strike or no strike, most of us will cross and work anyway. This is no time to be standing by the road holding signs when there are so many people without a job at all. While you're out there beside the road, your position may just be filled. Wise up co-workers.

I have no idea why anyone would even consider going on strike when the economy is as bad as it is right now??? It makes no sense, there are hundreds of people in our little county looking for jobs right now, and those who are making good money are going to be that greedy? Come on people, be thankful for what you have, if you even have a job you are better off than most. Thank God for your jobs!

Is your Lexus an older model? At $174,000.00 a year I can't get a year ahead on payments.

I don't know about whitesburg but Hazard should be shut down immediately. They told my best friend he was cancer free, and he died from cancer 3 months later. I know another person who was taken there after a vehicle accident to be checked out, and he ended up in the nut house drugged down, with his family looking for him (there's a lawsuit on that one). Poor guy never had a drug in his life and was so crazy, he didn't even know his family. Another person went there with chemical burns, and they gave him a drug/alcohol test(negative of course)then tried to make him pay for it, and put it on his credit report when he refused. I was there 10 years ago with a broken foot. Not only did they tell me it wasn't broken, but smashed it into the wall with a wheelchair on the way out. Yes it's a backward hospital run by backward stupid inbred people.
