One thing you guys havent ever noticed is that Anna is not up to hiring local guys. Sorry Guys you will not get that job. I am not saying you guys could not do the job. I am saying tht you guys will not ever get the chance because you are local. Look at some of the names that she has passed by. Randy Frazier, Tony Sergent, William Wright, Delano Thomas, Jody McAuley, Terry Howard, Larry Maggard. Make a long story short anything is better than what we got

Coach wright would be the best man for the job. He was my favorite coach back in the 80's. I doubt he'd get back into coaching now anyways. But I'd definitely rather have a guy from around here. This guy right now aint going to cut it.

First of all Tony Sergent, Delano Thomas and Larry Maggard would be a bigger mistake than Whitaker. If you mean Jim McAuley that coached Neon Elementary School. I think he would be a great High School Coach.

terry howard, they say the game is not about the x's and o's but the jim's and joe's. That means no-matter how much you coach it's all about talent. Terry's not a coach he has had hand picked players hand picked assistant coachs that do his job for him and the referees hear this store from him,"guy's we need the breaks, we're playing here at home and you know how it is if you want to keep calling he need to keep winning.

i heard where they are closing most of your elementary schools and i heard they are gonna cut out school lunches and double up on bus runs and cut off the air and heat plus hold everyone back two more years. then they might have enough money to hire the x uk coach

Here he is again, using my screen name. Hey Folks. Notice when I post it says Lexington because that's where my provider is. When these imposters post it says either Georgetown, Pikeville or somewhere else. If a guy can't come up with his own screen name his ideas are not worth listening to.

Guys you are crazy. I played for Howard for 3 years and he was a great coach. First of all he cares about the kids that plays for him and always let's them know they are special and goes out of his way to develop relationships with them besides football. And yes he has hand picked coaches because he picks them out himself. I think it's pretty smart to surround yourself with people that knows the game and he can trust. He was our offensive coordinator and he let his other coaches coach their positions without butting in on them and he has been pretty daggone successful. Go and ask the boys that are not playing any longer on that hill if they would still be playing if Howard was their coach and you will see how much he is respected as a coach, shoot ask any of the kids that ever played for him how much they respect him and you will get your answer. I'm sure there are smarter coaches when it comes to X's and O's but he's the best motivator I've ever played for, kids give him their heart and soul and would walk through hell for him. Not sure if he would ever want to be the coach of that team but I know he would have my vote along with a whole lot of ex-players.

Sorry kid you half to have alot more than a few Eighth grade championships before you even get considered for the LCC job. People always say well the Eighth grade team we played on was good. Well has anyone ever told you after you have been held back a couple times you should win you are bigger and faster than the other kids. Then when you become a junior or senior the other kids from the other schools have peaked to now and is fast and strong as what we are and basically you know what they say about pay back. Sorry guys The big kid running back does not work in High school. You half to know the X and o's of football. Sorry. Facts are Facts

Besides having a few eighth grade championships, how about the fact Howard has built/re-built 3 programs since he has been coaching? He took a new program at Letcher and had them competing for a championship, rebuilt Whitesburg into a competitive team (numerous county championships and a Big Sandy Championship), and then took the consolidated team and practically dominated the Big Sandy. Also having a record of 100+ wins compared to 11 losses is not gathered by having the big kid running back or having no clue of the x's and o's. It's called taking kids that may not have the most talent and getting them to believe in theirselves to produce on the field. It's taking a bunch of boys from complete different households and backgrounds have making them into a family that would lay it all on the line for each other. But from other posters I guess that can be overlooked if you have hand-picked coaches and hand-picked players around you. Kind of hard to picture that when your head coach/offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator have been coaching together close to 10 years and no player cuts made on the team.

People it's been stated on this post already. Our Supt. isn't going to hire anyone from Letcher County to coach our high school team. She likes the next big name regardless if they can coach or not. I would personally love to see one of our county boys get a shot at it. I know for a fact that whether it be Howard, McAuley, Sergent or any of the others that were mentioned they would have done a better job than Whitaker. Really this year's team going 4-7 and last years team winning what only 3 games, can you say "Underachiever Coach Of The Year". I personally know all three of the names I mentioned above and they all three genuinely care about the welfare of our kids and would do whatever it takes to turn them into not only winners but fine young men and productive members of (OUR) society some day. These three guys have a personal interest in our community because they live here, have kids in our system and understand our kids and where they come from. Letcher County may not be that diverse in many peoples eyes but in reality each of our small communities in Letcher County have their own little sets of values and beliefs and I think that it will take someone that realizes this and develops his coaching style and staff to meet the needs and expectations of these individual communites in order to be successful to win here. Terry, Jim Bob and Tony all meet these qualifications so give one of them a shot. Shoot why not talk all three of them into doing it together. Really it can't get any worse than what it is right now can it?????

someone would have to be crazy to take the job, bottom line we need players!!!! we only had 5 offensive lineman and big willie never played he was always hurt or just would not practice, he was a waste this year. keep blaming the coaches, those kids had a good team and done the best they could. put terry up there as head coach and see what will happen. tony and jimbob are the only two that would be worth a dam, but neither one of them will take the job they both no better. unitil the middle school programs are fixed it will be awhile before lcc is back on the winning track. good luck to all them players that did not quit.

Areyoukiddingme, did you say Terry Howard built Whitesburg Football that is the dumbest statement anyone could ever say!!!!! Whitesburg Middle School won alot of County Championships before he even got there. I think its funny in a way. Ask some of the parents what they think now Terry knew he had no Eighth grade team this year and he quit. I bet you the house he wants to coach next year the 5th and 6th grade team done great this year. I would die if they aloow that to happen. What a joke.

Guys we are on here bitching and going on over nothing. Terry loves the kids and they love Terry that is why he gets results. You have nothing to worry about Terry, Jim Bob nor Tony will ever get this job at LCC.
