The tv series that was shot in Whitesburg will be on TV tomorrow night. On Animal Planet at 9:00 pm.

It's already on the internet and the web site.

The name of the show is "Snake Man of Appalachia."

My momma called it right. She was watching it, and told me, this was shot in Whitesburg. She may live in Ohio now, but she surely still knows her KY mountain roads.

If you're talking to me, 1. I have a job making over 35k per year, 2. I actually speak fluent English, 3. I live in a decent-looking house (unlike them), 4. they can help it, it's called getting a real job after getting an education, and 5. if they're going to make a show do it about a decent family, not trailer trash like this.

Lots of 4-wheelers and a Harley! Those things aren't cheap!

I wish them well. I hope they make a fortune from this venture.

it was filmed in pine creek at Mayking..u didn't miss much, just another show giving everyone another reason to laugh and make fun of us "hillbillies". I just have to ask about this, if anyone else that watched this show tonight can help me understand, Verlin was looking for a job through out the entire show, he was approached by a man in town that gave him a job working on a tower... verlin kissed his wife, told her he would get the job done and get back home as soon as he could, he seemed to drive, and drive.... but when he pulled up to this "tower" to be worked on, it was a cb tower his brother Scottie Joe has in his yard... which is right there in the same little area of cleo loop where his whole family lives!!! couldn't you have at least go out of pine creek to pretend to work Verlin???

They could do a show about you, but would that show be just like 90% of us. I see your life every time I look in the mirror. It aint southern country or hillbilly you get 10 miles out of NY. City and youll see folks these snake handlers would call backwords. People eerywhere is strange.

I have known this family my whole life, they own all this stuff just like these other people who draw checks and foodstamps, and spend their money on four-wheelers and cars. They are a far cry from upper middle class, holler trash more like it. After watching their show I am so embarrassed to say I come from Mayking.

I actually live about 20 miles from this vermin, but unlike them, I wouldn't do a TV show that would bring shame to this region. Sounds like you would fit in quite well with that particular family... "people everywhere *are* strange"- well if the shoe fits, hun..

Anytime this area is on television it is made to look like a total shit hole. I do have to give Animal Planet credit for not doing that. This is where we live. This is how we are. Not all of us, but a lot.
I have seen people post how you are proud to be from here, or proud of your heritage, for those of you who are making the comments downgrading the Shorts for the way THEY live, then I don't believe you are proud of where you are from. And you are not proud of your heritage.
Yeah, he may have a Harley and new vehicles, but how many of you have fallen on hard times and had to file for unemployment to make the bills and not had a lot of money to buy your kids what they want for their birthdays or Christmas. Yet you still had that new car you bought before you were laid off, or the new four-wheeler, still had the internet, cable, and phone.
How many of you actually do have bad water that turns your clothes yellow, maybe you take your clothes to the laundry mat, looks to me like they are saving a lot of money by catching rain water, the laundry mat is not cheap. Seems some what cleaner if you ask me.
Do any of you remember when your parents or grandparents used to catch rainwater to take a bath? I can't begin to tell you how many people's hair I have done and told them to catch rain to wash their hair in because their water was so bad.
I had my own OMG moments, I'm not going to lie. The snake part was a little far fetched for me, but to each his own. As a whole, I did enjoy the show. Hoo-Ray to them for being who they really are and not afraid to show it. Take a good look at your self in the mirror, and remember where you came from.

I expected to see the craziest bunch of people on the show. Instead, I saw a mom like me that wants the best for her kids and a family who's not hurting anyone, and loves each other very much. I was impressed.
