If Mr Paul gets the right to work law passed in Ky you can kiss your union goodby. I worked in Virgina in a union for a while and it's pretty tough to be a union member if there is a right to work law.

What is the right to work law? And does the workers get to vote on whether to approve the contract or not?

It gives companies the right to hire people off the street if forsay you have members laid off they can hire people instead of calling back members off your people who are laid off. We tried to fight it in virginia but we lost ever case. In my opinon it is to help companies break unions. They laid off who they wanted to and we could not stop it. We lost every arbritration case we put forth. thank god we finally moved back to ky where our union was respected again.

take it from a fellow Steelworker who works for ARH the contract is bad, If you have (example) cancer and have to be off for 9 months for chemo/radiaton what ever, with the present contract you have 4 years before you are terminated, NEW proposal, 24 weeks then you are TERMINATED, plus our insurance is going up which we expected, NO RAISES next 3 years, and it will take you over 10 years to get to standard pay for new hires, the COMPANY, wants it in the contract to be able to re-open contract to adjust wages IF the goverment raises the miniumum wage, so the can up the lower grade levels and take it from the upper grades to help offset their cost if the minimum wages go up. I just wonder what the amount the bonus for Haynes will be for staying till the end of April to make such a crappy proposal for all of us. Stay Strong Steelworkers, this contract will affects us forever

all steelworker that work for ARH will have 200.00 alloted each week from the Union to help with elec, mortgage etc, plus we can have STEELWORKERS insurance taken out of this money for a small amount, with no problem with preexisting illnesses

Last time we came back with a worse contract than we went on strike for. You really think everyone's just going to walk out again. Not likely.

The right to work law has come up several times in Kentucky and has been shot down every time. Do not think you will ever have to worry about right to work in Kentucky.

I am a steel worker.. What are you talking about?? The union don't have that kind of money to give to us.. I know the last time we walked out we got a total of 140 dollars that was it.. I had to file bankruptcy to keep from loosing my home.. You don't have any idea what you are talking about.. We have never had 200 dollars a week put back to pay our bills from the union.. Some people don't need to be posting stuff they don't know about unless you was there.. I was so I know this wasn't the truth about 200 dollars a week for our bills.. We couldn't even get help with food stamps to feed our kids because they said we have a job we choose to not work so no help for us..

Who can live on $200/week anyway?? Especially those who are used to making more than that and have bills to pay or children to feed.

I don't know about you, but I believe I would just rather keep working my job instead of wasting time standing beside the road letting my bills pile up and depriving my children.

I love how people can judge us steel workers when they don't know what they are talking about.. We haven't ever wanted to walk out but when the company wants more then half your take home pay then what are you suppose to do.. If we agreed on that contract then we are "depriving our children" because we can't take care of them.. We are working people only asking for a fair contract.. We have workers who make minimal wage so imagine how they feel about this contract and no raises for new hires for ten years.. Get your facts straight before you posted stupid comments.. Don't worry we will work so you can get your benefits provided to you by the tax payers.. Idiot

Im not going to judge your union because because I worked in a union for 36 years and I strongly support unions. What I wanted to say was during those years everything we ever lost during that time we never got it back. ARH is making plenty of money and they should pay their employees enough to eat and live. Best of luck.

Thank you so much for your response.. I know the coal miners would understand where we are coming from on this.. When we had to strike before it was the miners and the union miners who came down there with us.. We felt proud to have the miner, UMWA even teachers stood on the line with us.. Some people don't understand how the unions have to stick together to just have a fair contract to support our families.. Once again thank you for your support..

I didn't think so or you wouldn't have posted this. The last time it was $100.00 per person per week. This time it is $200.oo per person per week. Heard it with my own two ears @ our meeting. If you keep letting ARH take what they want you won't have to worry about qualifying for public assistance, we will need to survive! Take a stand and show that you are a true strong union person. There is strength in numbers!

We are standing up.. Our union never gave us no 100 a week the last time.. We got a 50 Walmart card, 50 good city and a 40 Iga card that was all.. I go to the meetings so I know what u are saying isn't the truth.. You need to listen more closely yourself.. I've been with Arh for over 18 years.. U are posting stuff that isn't true I can prove we never had 100 a week the last time..
