It's time to wake up and smell the coffee. If you think the world is a cheery, loving and happy place, you're delusional. The fact remains, their will ALWAYS be people who will differ, who will be cold hearted and/or who will seem uncaring. Viewing the world with your rose colored glasses simply opens your own world to disappointment.

Bottom line, many people have little sympathy towards a person who chooses suicide as a way to resolve problems. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. If you consider the more serious problems encountered by thousands of people who are amputees, blind, deaf, disfigured, mentally handicapped, etc. who struggle through, value life and remain happy to be breathing, Garrett's problems were miniscule in comparison. Therefore, here's a tip, if you don't like what you read or hear, then don't read or listen. Nobody forces you to read or listen to what you don't want.

I am not sure if Garrett's family and friends still visit this site, in a way I hope they don't as they really don't need to be subject to such abuse. Yet, if you do, I just wanted to say that I was one of the commuters that was there that morning and prayed for Garrett. I was also one of the 1st people to post on this site. We are coming up on almost 6 years now and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I hope time has helped to ease some of your pain. I think about that day often and still pray for the family and all his friends. I did stop by there after and had a chance to speak with Kelsey and his bf. Kelsey I hope you are doing well and I think about you often. To his best friend that showed up on the scene, I think of you & pray for you as well. I wish there was something more I could of done that morning for you. All I could do was hug you. I hope you have also been able to find some peace. My son is now 15 years old. We talk openly about suicide. He had a classmate complete suicide last year. I do understand how hard it is dealing with suicide as this past June, I had to deal with a 4th suicide. I truly understand the pain and grief. My hope for all of you, Garrett's mom, dad, sister, grandparents, aunt's, uncle's, cousin's and friends is that you are able to find peace and please don't forget to live, laugh and to love. I truly believe that is what Garrett would of wanted. Although I did not personally know Garrett, he has forever touched and changed my life <3 (((HUGS))), love, peace, prayers and smiles being sent your way <3

reading all these negative posts has just destroyed me. it pains me still that we lost such a beautiful friend, one of my best, my captain. Garrett was truly one of a kind. he never failed to make me smile. I think of him without fail every single day. the last thing he said to me was "I love you" .. and today, 6 years later, I still love him too. he was such a kind, generous person who would always go the extra mile for a laugh. to everyone with a kind word, it means so much to friends and family. I have felt him watch over me and wrap his arms around me when I've needed him. I miss him with every ounce of feeling I have in me and will until I see him again.

xoxo, your crunch

Having a little compassion for the fellow man has nothing to do with the good or bad in the world. It has to do with being a nice person. Mean people say mean things about others because they have somthing missing or wrong in their life. It just makes them feel better to pick on someone else.

You are what you say.

Time for a wake up call. Having little compassion comes from those who are mean. Their reason for being mean is irrelevant. The fact is, they are mean and thus, lack compassion. This makes for a bad society and thus, makes for the bad in the world. If everyone was nice to one another, there would be limited bad, if any at all, would there? The bad in the world is mainly caused by bad intent from those mean people. Bottom line, it has everything to do with the good and bad in this world.

Such a young soul, he still had his entire life to live.. It is important for you to not feel any guilt for his actions. For some reason, he felt that life was not worth living when really, he had so much life left! Unfortunately, he did not allow himself enough time to realize that on his own.. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The hardest thing to do as a mother is bury your own child. Stay strong, your family needs to you be most of all at this time. God is ALWAYS there.. and Garret is standing next to Him now =]

I blame video games. This kid had evidently played so much Frogger that he began to think he was in the game. You can't jump around moving cars in real life Garret!

Or maybe he was just sad because his mom named him after an old woman on the Facts of Life TV show? Either way, RIP dude!

You should really consider posting 10,000 more times to be sure that everyone gets your point, because I'm not sure they did. I'm surprised you have taken so much time away from your Ron Paul Star Trek Convention to post on here.

Why? Because it's not the same belief as yours? You are no more correct nor incorrect as I when it pertains to religion.

Who said anything about religion? It's about having 1/2 an ounce of compassion as a simple human being, for another, no matter what religion you are.

Why come here and post, just for the goal of insulting? I'm sure you could find several other threads where you can toss around your cynical opinions, I've seen you do it.
