Good Day,

Grab a fishing pole and get on the Water!

Michigan really has it going on when it comes to fishing. Such a wide variety of gamefish species that other States would be jealous of. If I remember correctly, there was an article recently in Field and Stream where the author was arguing that Michigan may actually be the best of all the States when it comes to fishing opprotunities. A bold statement to be certain, but I think one that could be well defended. Steelhead, 4 kinds of salmon, carp, bluegill, trout, muskie, pike, pech, walleye, bass, etc.... From the big lakes to inland lakes, ponds, rivers, streams and small creeks. Fly fishing, bait, hardware... Summer fishing and ice fishing. Get out there and enjoy it!

The seasons you are talking about...pike, musky, walleye, trout (type 1 & 2 streams, A & D lakes) opened yesterday (last saturday in April.) The fact that they are open now is what counts!

I would be inclined to agree with that argument when it comes to freshwater fishing. Between being surrounded by the great lakes and the inland lake and river fishing, both open water and ice, it's pretty hard to top Michigan for diversity and quality of fishing.

Good luck, get some big'uns!

Good Day,

Indeed Arctic! This is probably one of the few areas we will agree on things, haha. But really, we honestly do have it pretty good here.

Both my sons and friends went salmon fishing Sunday(Grand Haven) and came home with 25. They all caught their limit. Guess it makes up for the lack of ice this winter.

Good Day,

Awesome! Sounds like a great day and time to wheel out the smoker... ;-)

It was also one of the best Winter/Spring runs of steelhead in many years. Some of my buddies said it was the best they ever experienced. Fish on!
