UPDATE: Judge orders release of man convicted of rape and murder

Muskegon - Unless Muskegon County prosecutors can convince an appeals court to intervene, killer Wayne Lee Stevens will walk out of prison at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday.

Have you ever noticed that the judges that have so much control over our lives, never seem to have anything happen to any member of their families. If something were to happen [and I hope it doesn't], maybe they wouldn't be so quick to let these dirtbags mingle with the rest of society.

At the end of the article it says if it could happen to him, it could happen to any of us; referring to not being let out when his time was served according to what he was sentenced. I'm sorry, but "any of us" would not mutilate the female organs of someone by inserting a broken bottle or any means. Rape is bad enough. This is a totally sick and twisted act of someone who is not stable enough to be in society. I don't understand how they can say he was on good behavior either after sexual misconduct on four accounts! I for one will be scared if he is let out and will want to know where he lives and if is capable of a job, where. I want to stear way clear of this one!

How is it that drug crimes get more time than this man? Honestly, if he plans on trying to live like a normal person (i.e. not in hiding) I give him a week tops. There are way too many people out there who want to see this man dead.

This just makes me sick. Good behavior? where does that come into play? Did he save a puppies life or something oh hell no He violated a woman with a glass bottle & killed her & then escaped or tried to escape while in prision. If was I to get a speeding ticket & dont pay it on time I would end up in the klink & treated worse then he was. Bring back the death penalty people. do you want him or others like him in your neighborhood around your family? LOBBY, VOTE & LETS KEEP SCUM LIKE THIS OFF OUR STREETS!

This is terrifying! Does anyone know if there is some way to get this judge disqualified from the case somehow? The laws are there to protect the public and putting this animal back into society his a HUGE mistake, and is doing just the opposite of protection. Never mind his rights to be out of prison...he gave up those rights a long time ago!! This is definitely a case to bring the death penalty back for.

Big mistake...huge!!! When he hurts or kills the next person, those of us on the side of right can all say we told you so. Those of you on the side of the "law" will be able to call yourselves his accomplices. It sounds to me like some laws need to be changed if this is the sort of person that benefits from them. They don't get much more sick and twisted than Wayne Lee Stevens. Since we have no death penalty in Michigan (but should), he should have at least gotten life in prison without the possibility of parole. But no...let's cut his sentence short by 17 years for "good behavior." Four violations related to sex and an escape...apparently that's good behavior, instead of additional time added to his sentence. This animal should never be let out! Bottom line...the law is wrong in this case...very wrong!

I agree with most people that he shouldn't get out. Unfortunately, we have exactly what we call it, a CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. What we need is a Victim Justice System.
