I don't have to think about anything I say! That is the beauty of this country: FREEDOM OF SPEECH! My opinion stands and I can back it up.

The beauty of freedom of speech is that you can say anything you want...however, it would behoove you to perhaps think about what you say...not only could your children read what you have to say, but the rest of the world will know you don't "think" before you speak because of the ignorance you expel from your cocksucker...

I would like to know where all the money goes from all these sales the kids do.I pay taxes that support the school.Ever year it gets worse. It needs to stop.If they sell the most they might get a prize,Really,we dont send our kids to school to be door to door peddlers. You get a pie in theface if you loose. What kind of message does that kind of thing send to our kids.it was play ground equipment and coppiers, and on it goes,Why dont the teachers go door to door after work or the board of education emp.If they are so worried about what our kids eat ,then worry about what is being put on your kids back.

i move around a lot, and i have never seen a school where the principal picks the kids whos parents will likely raise the most money, and dollar all the kids to death. every day last week they wanted money for activities that every child should be allowed to participate in.

Traveler, being as you must be new to this area I thought I would clarify how this Halloween thing works rather than you being misinformed by angry rants. ;) Actually they used to randomly draw names for the candidates. But after phone call after phone call to parents who did not want to do it, they decided to let parents volunteer if they were interested. They sent a letter home, stating clearly if you were willing to participate to let your childs teacher know. At that point the names of the children whose parents volunteered where placed in the pool to be drawn from in each grade. Trust me, this year was my third year to participate in the Halloween fundraiser. I promise you this is how it works. They do not just pick who they want, you have to volunteer to do the work. Granted, "we" did do an "Inside Out Day" last week...that was a last ditch effort to gain a few bucks. There was no intention of "leaving anyone out", I definately always stand for equality. There is a lot of volunteer work that goes into this fundraiser, either you are willing to do it or not. I just happen to be willing to volunteer my time.

Now on the original thread discussion-As far as the teachers go, we are blessed to have many great teachers at the school. Granted some may be considered better than others, but it is like that with everything in life. We have a wonderful school, and I feel very sure that the children are not judged by their parents bank accounts. Do the kids get a lot of homework? I do not feel like it is excessive at all, my children are definately what you can call "involved" in extra cirricular activities. Every season has a sport, as well as other non sport related activities. We manage to do them all and turn in our homework on time. Does that mean staying on schedules and maintaining structure? Absolutely. But we also still have "us time", as well as time for fun and creativity. It is all about balance I suppose. Any who, I am outta here. And with my rant I leave my name, because if it is worth my time to type on this completely misused site...It is worth my name being left as well.:)

I think it is crazy that we had to pay $5.00 for our children to get in the door. When like traveler said they have asked for money everyday of the week for the past 3 weeks! And then all the money that was raised last year! Plus their were parents that do not have a child in the school yet but they have a 1 to 3 year old that they brought to the school and DID NOT pay to get in because they doo not charge for children that are not yet in school, and they are there enjoying what our hard earned money paid for! Because if we did not send the money OUR children that are actually in the school would not get to participate. Enough is Enough!

Why don't you thank those of us who do volunteer our time and take to time to raise the money instead of griping? If it weren't for us, YOUR child would not have half the opportunities they do in that school.

I think some changes need to be made in the care and education of special needs children at WSS Elementary School as well as all of Greenbrier County Schools! Animals in a zoo get treated better than the special needs children in Greenbrier County Schools!!!!
