I have been part of senior management here for a long time and seen many come and go but for the life of me I don't understand why Kmiec is running this fine organization. Why would Jim Justice hire this guy with his employment history (fired from last position)and never productive in any position ever held. A salesman with no experience running a hotel like the Greenbrier? This is not what we need and I see nothing positive from this guy so far!!!!
How many good people has he fired and what is his game plan? I want to know if it is true that he is replacing everyone he has fired with his friends from his last job? Is he just Jim's boy friday? What is the general feeling of this fellow? By the way have you all noticed how he is at every game of Big Jim's?? He sure knows how to suck up to the Man!!!
I have noticed how he walks through the halls with his nose up in the air and to good to speak !! If it was raining he would drown.
How long do you think it will take before Jim see's through this guy and recruits someone with the background to led this Hotel back to it's glory day's. I hope real soon!!!!!!!!!

I have never heard a sour word or attitude from Jeff. He is a wonderful and delightful person that always speaks to everyone that I have seen. I find that Jeff is a motivator of the employees and seems to care as he is at almost everyone of our meetings. I personally don't know him but have gotten the oppertunity to speak to him at work and don't get that kind of vibe from him. If you are a part of the senior management I think it is pretty foul of you to speak about a co-worker like that, we are suppose to be a team not hating on one another...that's what's wrong with that place!

back stabbing, tattle telling, egotistical, lying, rude, just a few things that come to mind of this person.

"Front of the Line" has obviously never witnessed or been the recipient of one of Jeff's "special treatments". Jeff Kmiec's function is hatchet man, pure and simple. The purge is very nearly finished, though. Now he needs to clean up the rubble and go about winning the peace. So the $50 question is - Will he be able to adjust to this new challenge or will he get the axe himself?

Do these purges make sense? Some do, but firing or bullying out nearly everyone who was left from the old regime? Could THAT many experienced people be THAT incompetent? Was it really THEIR fault the hotel went into bankruptcy and continues to hemorrhage money today? Or was/is it a stream of utterly foolish policy decisions made at the very top by chiefs who then deflect blame to the indians when things don't work?

The sad truth is: The Greenbrier we once knew is dead. Stone cold dead. R.I.P.
What has replaced it is an even more cynical, plasticized, cartoon caricature of what once was The Greenbrier. It's being administered by a stream of continually changing faces who have no attachment to the property, its history or to the community whatsoever. They don't care about the shattered lives they're leaving in their wake. They won't be around long enough to enjoy it anyway.

I agree with this, maybe he is the reason why we can't get our 5th star, maybe he scores way too low, maybe jim needs to look at his management before firing employees

Eyes Wide Open- you've got a pretty good handle on the state of the Greenbrier.

It's a shame that the hope felt by all who have been around the place any length of time disappeared in less than a year. Loyalty is a two-way street! The iron-fist method will not work. Intimidation does not yield dedication & motivation.
When will they learn......

There's a striking similarity between the arrogance and abuse of power being exercised at the G and the attitude we are getting from D.C. Once again- when will they learn.......

Stop crying: I'll guess anyone complaining has been fired. Congratulations! You helped the resort lose 150mm and drove it into bankruptcy. Hatchet man? Iron fist? Save the legacy and throw out the dead. Kmiec is only doing what all the yes men before him failed to do: turn the ship around. The resort hasn't had the 5th star in 10 years: all the critics are to blame. Can you handle the truth?

Why do the critics have so much free time? Are they unemployed? Wake up, two years ago the resort was dead. Now under JJ and his team we are working more than ever. The resort is busier than ever. My family is happy because I'm happy. Lost your job because the new boss fired you? Don't go away mad, just go away. And another thing, god bless JJ.

Amen? You are absolutely clueless. If you had gotten the same treatment, you'd b singing a different tune.

I wish I could operate my business the same way he does. I'd be very wealthy.
Here's what they do: Order product/service. Product or service gets provided. Get the bill? Ignore it. Get a reminder? Ignore that one too. Ignore the 3rd and 4th reminders too. Get the threat of legal action? Pay a portion to quiet the vendor down. After several months, refuse to pay the rest due to "shoddy workmanship" or such - even though they have been ordering the exact same product/service the entire time.

CSX may have run the place into the ground, but at least they paid their bills. The same cannot be said for JJ and his band of thieves.

Word gets around. Eventually he will run out of vendors willing to invoice him at all and they'll have to pay cash up front for everything. You need lettuce? Pay cash. Those little bars of soap? Pay cash. Booze? Gas for the shuttle busses? Cashola or no way, Jimbo.

Only then might the playing field actually be "even".

Some of you have hung in that valley too long. JJ has hired a bunch of guys lead by Kemic who know very little about running a hotel.. You only get five stars if you have happy well trained and current employees its clear that morale is at an all time low. Putting Kemic in charge of operating a hotel is a little like putting the car salesmen in as CEO of GM what do they know about operations. The carefully crafted PR campaign about the ole GB doing so well are interesting.. High occupancy but $79 room rates.. not a profitable game unless you don't pay your bills and you buy cheap shit rather then the quality of the past. Comparing occupancy to 09 or 08 is absurd.. the hotel was in a close down.. go back to a good year. These guys are not good people.. and someone is going to figure it out some day.. I feel badly for all the hard working people who at their core knew what service was and did a good job of delivering for the most part. Good news is that the ole GB survived two world wars so I sure hope sure can survive the likes of Kemic and JJ..
Funny you mention GM: another antiquated business model that went belly up. Maybe had they hired a car salesmen to run the company they wouldn't be in the mess they are today. Only time will tell if a coal guy and a sales guy can transform the "ole GB" into the new GB. One thing is for sure; the world is taking notice.

Funny.. you must be in White Sulphur.. and don't have a clue whats happening in the real world.. If you believe all the bs.that is being spewed that good luck to you bud.. and yes there is an easter bunny.. They aren't transforming it they are not telling the truth and people who are really there know it.. They are making up numbers.. there occupancy rates are bs.. and you can't make profit on 79 room rates.. One more example of the dream world you all live in.. As an old client and there are none left of the kind that paid their bills.. the world has changed.. good luck to you : Future

Funny someone from Washington DC thinks they live in the "real world"! Coming from the land of lies and promises it's a wonder you can tell the difference between right and wrong. As for how to survive in the new economy: look at what Ford and GM have done to return to profitability as a lesson on how the business world operates. Increase market share while cutting expenses. You say there is no Easter Bunny: that's clever. What's next: a joke about West Virginia? Perhaps you should remain an "Old Client" to make room for someone who appreciates what we have in WV.

I wonder why the Homestead is for sale. Are they in trouble like the Greenbrier was a few years ago. Maybe Old Client Gone can go there? Then he wouldn't have to bother with WV.

Well for sure I am an old client.. and one who loved the people and the venue of the Greenbrier.. as well as West Virginia.. I have always learned that if you can come back with a sound argument go ahead and attack the person.. The reason Washington has issues is because its easier to attack the individual rather then make the sound arguments. One thing is for sure.. we had the will, and the love of both the Ole G as well as your beloved state and we had the money to spend.. just having trouble with the New G and the attitude.. Too bad.. and by the way we tried the Homestead.. nice people.. its just not the Greenbrier. So glad you are Proud.. to bad you are bitter

Hey Old Client: aren't you the one who attacked me by saying "Funny.. you must be in White Sulphur.. and don't have a clue whats happening in the real world.. If you believe all the bs.that is being spewed that good luck to you bud.. and yes there is an easter bunny."

So it's ok for you to insinuate that White Sulphur residents are clueless and believe in the Easter bunny. However when someone points out the irony of a Washington DC resident telling someone they don't live in the "real world" you take offense. Get out the dictionary and look up the word hypocrite.

As for the resort: read between the lines. Occupancy is up by offering off season deals to fill the hotel and expand their customer base. Profits are not up: which is why they continue to reduce the number of employees. You may not agree with their approach. You may not agree with their tactics. You may not even agree with building a casino. At least they are trying to save the grand lady. And I guess we can agree that the grand lady is worth saving. Bitter? Jeff Kmiec must not plan on staying in WV too long, he still has Florida plates on his Hummer. Either he plans on leaving soon or he purposely neglects to register his vehicle and pay the West Virginia tax. Without a doubt, he is a snake don't be fooled. To his credit he's lasted longer than I believed he would. Can't wait for the day to say "Cheers A$$hole".

I remember reading in the paper some time ago an article urging people to report out of state cars that have been in the area for more than 30 days. Maybe someone should report him so they can give JJ some of his money instead of ours!
