Could someone please explain to me the concept of being so lazy that you can't/won't mow or pick up the trash in your yard, and not only do you let your dogs run wild in the neighborhood, but also let your young children do the same?

Awww, so hide your face and state your protests from the bushes. Poor ol fellow, all burned up about somebody he don't like but he's afraid to be direct with them and try and resolve the issue. Better go get some rolaids.

Maybe their lawnmower is broken and they don't have the money to fix or buy a new one right now for whatever reason. Have you offered to help them out in case they may be in need of it? I do agree that they should keep their animals up, but I think it is wonderful that the children live in a neighborhood where they can play and just be kids. What is so wrong with that? That is one of the biggest problems people from White Pine face... Nosy and judgmental neighbors. I would be in agreement with you if they were, in fact, messing up your yard. Then that is a different situation, but what they do in their own yard is their business.

I'm neither nosey nor judgmental. I've asked them if they need help mowing, etc and was told to "mind my own business". The working lawnmower is sitting at the side of the house, they are just too lazy, or just don't care. I know it's not a financial or health issue because of the cars and "toys", so I just can't comprehend or understand why they live like hoarders. That area of the neighborhood is mostly rentals, so maybe it's time to talk to the owner of the house or the city?

Not even close! The homes here are nice, some newer, ranging in price from $125k up to $200k. That's why I'm so aggravated. It's not the owners who live in their own homes, it's the renters. The rented homes are owned by a construction company that can't sell them because they were built in a flood zone, so they rent them. Some of the renters take pride in their rentals and keep the yards nice. But there are a few, one in particular, that I'm referring to in the first post, that are lazy and rude. Those of us who have lived here for years now have to look at these overgrown, trash filled yards and can't do anything about it.

Is it the ones on the left as you go through the caution light and up onto Old Airport Rd? If it is as bad as you say, then maybe you and the other residents could sign a petition with your complaints and present it to the landlord. It seems that if it is in the city then there should be some type of restrictions against living like that. My grandmother had a similar problem with her neighbors. Nothing she did got it resolved, so she put up a bunch of big Crape Myrtles to block the view. It seems to help quite a bit.

I was asking the original poster if it was the newer subdivision going past the caution light and up Old Airport Rd, then turn onto one of those roads to the left. Not sure what the name of the roads on the left are. It seems like one of the roads that take you to it is Barker Rd or Dr. Those houses are several different colors and I know that some of them are owned and some of them are rentals.

Barker Drive is the name of the road you are talking about. It's one big loop back to airport. So if you turn left on either of the roads its Barker Drive. There are alot of renters and few home owners. Some of the houses are owned by people from California and Florida.

I've lived her a while now, and when I saw all those houses going up I knew it was a disaster just waiting to happen.
While the new portion of the subdivision is in the city limits, because of the new section's street flooding and standing water issues, the city is working with the developer to get him to correct the problems. Until then, that area is not "governed", so to speak, by city regulations. The developer recently repaved that area trying to fix the water standing in the roadway, but when you built in a flood zone what do you expect to happen?
This may be why these renters are allowed to let their yards grow up, let their dogs (and kids, but that's another issue) run wild, park their cars in the streets and leave garbage/trash laying around. At least there is no living room furniture out on the lawn, right?

Please wait...
I know which house you're talking about. I own a house just a bit up from it...and I agree with you. The house you're referring to is pretty disgusting. I wince at the trash piled up on the little porch every time I go past there. We live across the street from renters that aren't the "hoarder" type like those, but are crude, loud and have damaged our property on more than one occasion.
I hope you find a workable solution to your problem, and remember that there are some of us nearby that feel your pain.
