Jail is for criminals and I don't think jail time is proper. Give me a break

This is RIDICULOUS! In a state that can't take care of it's residents (medical, schools, etc...) why are we wasting all of this time, effort, and money (TAX dollars) on making sure this guy has a lawn? There are so many other things you people can focus your attention on, and you pick on this guy because his grass isn't thick enough? Put one in and charge him for it, why waste all these resources on PICKING on a guy?

i don't think they should be able to put him in jail for not having you yard done, he's trying his best with what he has to get the yard done, and they can't really expect the yard to be done in 3 weeks when the grass has to have time to take and grow.... atleast he's not trying to grow it from scratch... i say they stop putting him in jail if they want the job done but continue to check on him... if they feel he needs some punishment then why not give him a fine... atleast this way he would be able to do the work still and get it done.

If it is against the law to not have a lawn why was the previous owner allowed to sell the house without a lawn? Is this how police spend their time? Meanwhile someone was just shot, stabbed, robbed, etc..... come on!

Does the Newago county sheriff not have anything better to do?
I'm sure that there are real victims out there that could really use his services.

Its as shame that the Law Enforcement and Politicians in White Cloud dont have better things to do with thier time then watch someones grass grow. I think its time to down size in some Public Service jobs if we are at this point!!

The Newaygo County Judge should be ashamed of himself. Of all the bigger issues in the world and he puts a man in jail for not having grass in his yard? What a fool. Does he realize how much money it costs to incarcerate Mr. Burch? Again, what a fool!

Maybe they should use some of the taxpayer money to help him fix his lawn and not waste it on him sitting in jail where he is unable to fix his lawn.

I think this is the biggest waste of tax dollars. I have lived here 15 yrs and it has taken me 12 yrs to grow grass here. Don't the police have real criminal to occupie there time with?

I feel our cities and police are interfering to much into peoples lives come on this story and the store of the man in muskegon i feel our courts and police have more serious issues to be dealing with then stuff like this our jails our over crowded as it is and like he said if he is in jail his lawn still wont be done all that will cause is the tax payers more money to have him in jail.
the police and courts should be dealing with all these people collecting welfare and ssi illegaly this man is not criminal and jail is ment for criminals not for those who dont do there yard work

What kind of idiots are running our government. They don't put repeat offenders of DUI in jail, but they'll waste their time and our tax dollars to put someone in jail because they don't have a lawn.

The government, whether local, state or federal are always intruding where they don't belong. Whats the difference between communisms and the way our government is now..Some of Americans business needs to be left alone. Our jails are full enough.

I think that we need to take a moment and look at a CDV......pursuit of happiness... and also the common good... the yard not being finished is not hurting anyone.. even if he didnt want to grow his grass he should not go to jail because it will not hurt anyone.. he can do what makes him happy as long as he is not hurting anyone.. you need to give the people who are actually trying a break and start cracking down on the ones that arent. there is so many crimes and bad things going on in this world i dont believe that this is something we should be focusing on... i think that the newaygo police have better things to be working on! Thanks

I'm sure the White Cloud government wants
homes "finished", that way they can charge even higher property taxes. This is just another example of how little liberty we have in 'Amerika'. These public 'servants' should be tarred and feathered and replaced with people who
would see themselves as servants of the people. It is sad to see that Amerika has
regressed to rule by kings (judges).

Putting him in jail is a waste of time and money. Fine him, make him do community service, whatever, but jail is ridiculous.

Let's be neighborly and help him. Looks like he's trying. What does everyone elses lawns look like in Newaygo? Maybe we should have the lawn police check out the rest of the town.

I think it is very unfair to do that to him. Putting a yard in is very expensive. My husband does landscaping and irrigation and it isn't cheap. Not everyone can afford a beautiful yard.
