Dale won't change his proposal

After a group of residents from Williamson Way complained that a 9,000-square foot building slated for 479 Russell Street would literally overshadow their neighborhood, the project's developer, Russ Dale, told ... Read more

It is ironic that the Tidings portrays Mr. Dale as not wanting to budge. It is possible that if Mr. Dale changes his proposal that certain things may not work for him like the loan, credits, other municipality requirements. Why can't the writer be that of a journalist and not pick sides which this writer tends to do. Why? Do you have it out for the guy and know nothing of editorial integrity?

I think the reason why the Ashland Tidings portrays Russ Dale as a bad guy is the fact that the publisher has a small town mentality and hires writers of smaller mentalitites as not to outsmart him. Maybe this writer is all this town can afford. Or maybe the writer is a college student working part time. Ashland is a college town. But at the rate they are going Ashland may only be a timber producing town and stay on the records as such. Small minds have a hard time keeping up with progress like updating their files. And most small town officials lack the intelligence to move anywhere especially forward.

I am always amazed at what is written about Russ Dale. Everything he builds is great! The homes in Jacksonvile are fabulous and the creekside park improved the area tenfold. He restored the Woolworth Building in downtown Medford and is restoring another building. Riverwalk homes in Ashland are beautiful and the park he created for that is wonderful. I do notice that when he does restoration or develops somethings be a commercial building, home, condo, apartments--he goes out of his way to please most of the people in the neighborhood. As for this proposal and the group of residents--get real guys. They are worried about the petty things. I would not want them for neighbors--how petty do they go.

Labor Day weekend, I was in Ashland and got to see Williamson Way and Russell Street. Hey people! Didn't you even think that the vacant lot near you would build a building on it? Duh....

Just came back from Ashland. Gorgeous town, culture and saw this street and what's the big deal, you would still have a view. Go to other towns and be hard luck to get any of the looks your have in the area of Hersey or Williamson streets..

Russ dale is an old friend of mine. He would be a better friend if from time to time He would take a few moments and draft a short note indicating what a great fellow I happen to be. Period Noel is currently housed in New Orleans collecting old stuff avoiding the cold setting in the north.
