really?

And how would you define "normal younger folks"?

Would that be the younger set with rings in their nose and black eyeline undre their eyes with pasty white skin?( that would be just the males)

Please....dont throw around blanket statements.

Are you kidding me? I'm young and have been to the Lex a handful of times--you should get out more. I think it's nice to support these establishments that have a proper history rather than the fly-by-night 'cool' places that fail after a year. Great idea stinkyflower, lets kill the place where soldiers would eat peanuts, drink beer and dance after coming home from WWII and replace it by another Pop!, Bulldog, or whatever Phima has is money-grubbing hands in to.

Great way to lose money which is a guarantee in that armpit of the world. Pure fantasy from some libs who think their DFL buddies will support their "unreality syndrome" or that they will get attention for taking a bad risk. The Union city inspectors will make martyrs of them all!!
Just another example of the last of the believers that will end up getting slaughtered.
I haven't been over there for 10 years, has that area gone downhill? As another poster said the place is worth saving for the tradition rather than always new, hip, cool. It's great to go somewhere that you remember from 20, 30 years ago. Mpls has none except for bars.

My wife and I went there on our anniversary several years ago. Their chi-chi menu and miniscule portions were such that afterwards we went to McDonalds to get something to eat.

Because the sale of a restaurant is an inherently political event. Sheesh.

I hope these folks know how to run a place like this. It looks easy, but it is not. You can make a lot of money in this business if you have enough covers and your costs are in line. If not you can lose a lot very quickly. The bad news is they will have no Honeymoon. When they open, they had better have their A game on, because today's customer will not give them a second chance. Provide a quality experience and people will love to patronize a local place that is not a themed member of a chain.

Wonderful food, never a bad meal, relaxed atmosphere with some diners in very dressy style and others in jeans an open necked shirt.

I can't get a better meal in town, and will continue to patronize it as often as I can.

I don't need off the wall experiments by the chef or trendy small portions of something that is hot in NYC.

I'm anxious to try a few old dishes but see what they've added.

PS, I'll kiss THIS pig any time, lipstick or not.

At least they didn't sell out a St. Paul icon like the owners of Porky's just for money. After all the support hot rodders and the rest of their customers gave them. Also, they put up with police harassment if you didn't park in their (Porky's) lot. I know the articule is about the Lexington, but two diffent results. Great to see someone is saving these places

I'm really looking forward to the changes to come for the Lex! I think that this is just what an established, well-known and historical restaurant needs - a facelift and a good polishing. I hope everyone embraces this change over and gives it a chance, I know I will. Congrats to the new owners!

Those who have been making negative comments about the Lex have obviously not been there in a while. Every time I'm there the restaurant is fully seated and the bar is filled with enough 'young' people to make any supposed hotspot envious. And BTW, the neighborhood is still the most sought after place to live in the city...

The negative posters usually eat at Mickey's Diner if they are lucky. They wouldn't know a good place if it slapped them in the face.

The portions are very generous. Chi-chi menu? Where do you usually eat? Yikes, what a crock.

Including the address in the story would have been a nice touch. Or did Ms. Jenkins write this just for her close circle of personal friends?
