Don't Grant Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants

Immigration reform needs to be pursued, President Barack Obama said Wednesday. We would agree strongly but for the fact that Obama's idea of "reform" doesn't match that of most Americans. During his campaign for the presidency, Obama made it clear that he favors a sort of amnesty for many illegal immigrants. On Wednesday he reaffirmed that stance. A "path to citizenship" needs to be provided for millions of people already in this country illegally, the president said.

The amnesty of 1986 was supposed to be a "one time only" amnesty. Yet since 1986, Congress passed a total of 7 amnesties for illegal aliens:

The Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA) Amnesty of 1986 - the "one-time only" blanket amnesty for some 2.8 million illegal aliens.
Section 245(i) The Amnesty of 1994 - a temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.
Section 245(i) The Extension Amnesty of 1997 - an extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.
The Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty of 1997 - an amnesty for nearly one million illegal aliens from Central America.
The Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA) of 1998 - an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.
The Late Amnesty of 2000 - an amnesty for approximately 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty.
The LIFE Act Amnesty of 2000 - a reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty to an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens.
An amnesty is a reward to those breaking the law. Issuing an amnesty to illegal aliens only encourages more illegal immigration into the United States. After the 1986 amnesty, illegal immigration increased significantly. Census Bureau 2000 data indicate that 700,000 to 800,000 illegal aliens settle in the U.S. each year, with approximately 8-11 million illegal aliens now currently living in the United States (up to 12 million, according to Department of Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge).

Yet an amnesty benefits neither our society nor those being amnestied. An Immigration and Naturalization Service study found that after living in the United States for 10 years, the average amnestied illegal alien had only a seventh grade education and earned less than $9,000 a year. Amnestied illegal aliens have no sponsor to support them financially. Instead, by enacting an amnesty, Congress places a staggering financial burden on American taxpayers to support those amnestied.

This is very true. The term comprehensive immigration reform as the traitors use it MEANS AMNESTY.

A path back to their home country needs to be provided to those millions who are here illegally. Citizenship should be awarded to those who have filed the papers, paid the fees and are waiting for immigration officials to complete the years of backlogged applicationa. Those people who want to become American citizens bad enough to do it legally. Those who have been waiting for years for the OK to come to the United States.

I agree with all of you but, we can never get the politicians to do the right thing! Amnesty was a joke the first time and continues to be a joke on us the American Tax payer and citisen. I am of Mexican decent and still favor tough laws that the bleeding hearts in DC do not pass! I was in Customs for 30+ years and saw it first hand and even when we gave our honest opinion of the bad deal of the amnesty no one wanted to hear it!

It is very easy to get rid of them if the political traitors realy wanted to.

The illegal parasites are here for a reason. Mostly money. Eliminate the reason and they will not come. No jobs and no free services alone would eliminate most. Then you can round up most of the others.

If there is no reason to come or stay, they wont.

Oh, please. They are spending their anchors' welfare checks and using their WIC and food-stamps also provided by the taxpayers. They aren't pumping anything new into our economy...it's recycled taxpayer money. They send out billions in untaxed remittances each year, and exactly how is that helping our economy, genius?

Consumers? Many of them live 25 to a single family dwelling and split expenses, how much consuming do they do compaired to Americans who usually live one family per single family dwelling?

Do a little research on the cost of the illegals who are here. The ones receiving government benefits (WIC, Food Stamps, Section 8 housing, etc), education for their children, incarceration of their criminals, etc. How many dependants do they claim if they file taxes, how many don't file taxes because they get a 1099 or are paid cash. Out of aproximately 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country, only 7.2 million of them have jobs and that number does not include children or the elderly. What are the rest of them doing? Selling or smuggling drugs? Growing pot in several of our National Forests and poluting the ground water with the chemicals they use? Running meth houses? Selling stolen identities? Gang members committing roberies to support themselves?
By the way, there are now over 8 million American citizens out of work and that number does not include those who are no longer able to draw unemployment so the number is really much higher than reported. There are 7.2 million illegal aliens holding jobs in America.
Expense of deporting them? Take away the incentives, welfare, jobs, etc. and they will self deport!

i don't think anyone is going to legalize its status just because Obama says so. But why those who are here for many years, paying taxes wouldn't be able to do so? That reform would help many people and bring some money into the economy. Who said there was no anger then? BO is allowing the border to stay wide open, and is doing nothing to stop the flow. He ran on a platform of "change we can count on", and all we've gotten is the usual back-peddeling from him that we always get from our politicians. This isn't about one side or the other, this is about Americans who should be uniting against this scourge. The blame game won't help us with this battle; we have to put our differences aside and work together. If we don't, the illegals with surely run rough-shod right over us.

Why is it that just because I don't agree with Nobama you think I agree with Bush?, for the record I had ALOT of problems with Bush he wasn't a true conservative. He didn't veto (1) spending bill his entire presidency, He wasn't tough enough on reducing taxes even with his tax cuts Nobama will let expire in 2010. He didn't close the border when he had the chance. There were alot of reasons I was disappointed with Bush. Just becuse I said the blacks chose Nobama does NOT make me a racist. I in no way implied my race or any race is superior to another. I merely pointed out that blacks voted for Nobama, many without even knowing anything about his positions on important issues. The only thing that will affect our economy if they leave is it will lower the amount of families on welfare. I am a welfare worker in California. Illegal immigrants getting cash aid, food stamps, and free emergency medical for themselves full coverage medical for their children is a huge expense for taxpayers. The money the illegals earn cannot be tracked and counted as they are paid cash/or use stolen SSN.

Not to mention the expense to provide free education to all of their children.

California is collapsing due to supporting these families.

It will help our economy if they deport.
