I was taking 1700 mg of metformin daily and i also did two cycles of Clomid. I was also taking progesterone to start my cycles. On the second try it worked and i am now 11 weeks pregnant. Good Luck!

Hi I have had PCOS for 15 years. After Metformin, progesterone, & a few cycles of clomid and laproscopic surgery to remove some of my cysts and scar tissue I have a beautiful son that will be 4 on April 16th and we are trying for baby # 2 right now. I have been on 1500 mg of Met since June and started progesterone again in December. I am hoping I ovulated this month and that it 'worked' guess I'll know soon enough. My concern is If I suspect that I could've concieved this time, should I start the next cycle of progesterone? I'm scared to take it because it is to make me have a period.... If I take it and start bleeding could it cause a miscarriage or if I did get pregnant, will I just not start my period even though I took the progesterone? I'm so confused.

Oh and Worrywart, BC is a common treatment for PCOS so, it's possible that taking it for so long has kept your symptoms under control or hidden.

I am also on metformin after being diagnosed at the age of 11, am 22 now and hoping to start a family with my fiance, next year. I am on 500mg, 3 times daily, it has induced some heavy bleeding, wether or not I am ovulating is a different question?... I am visiting my local doctor on Thursday - in hopes that she will prescribe me something else. My endo is away from Sydney and I am desperate... Let me know if you guys have done any different!... Take care all... Sammy!

I was diagnosed with pcos 15 years ago. I never had irregular cycles but I had all of the other horrible symptoms. In 2005 I started the atkins diet and walked 45 minutes everyday. I lost 40 pounds. I got pregnant! All through my pregnancy I watched what I ate and exercised only gained 11 pounds and quickly lost that after my daugter was born. Knowing that I have the pcos my doctor told me there was no need to go on birth control because I would probably never get prego again. 3 months later I got pregnant with my son. Unfortunatly my weight loss was short lived because I put a lot of the weight back on and now I have a very messed up menstrual cycle but I truly believe that a carb free diet was the answer to my baby prayers.

I have PCOS and got pregnant naturally this June! Here's how I did it:
I've been on birth control for over a year, two years ago was on Clomid and tried artificial insemination which did not work.
Juanuary of 09 I stopped my birth control and started a low glycemic diet (nothing that would shoot your sugar high)+ no dairy (only small amount of milk in coffee), no grains of any kind. Since stress is always a factor when I wanted ice cream I ate yogurt low calorie icecream. I still had occasional pizza or whatever I was craving but only occasionally so I wouldn't get depressed from giving up so much in my diet. I ate raw nuts for snack, kept calorie journal to make sure I ate only daily calorie intake.I drank water, coffee, green tea and organic "Traditional Medicinals Hormone Balance" Tea (the hormone one I drank every evening). I started exercising regulary (nothing major ie. walking, some swimming, little weights). I've read a lot successful stories of women getting pregnant naturally. I was tired of chemicals. It seems sugar, diary and lack of exercise might have something to do with PCOS because everyone who I read about, who limited those said they were eventually successful with pregnancy. I also started paying attention to my body and marked on calendar when I thought I ovulated. Firt my period returned naturally in February which hasn't happened since 2002!!! It wasn't exactly every 28 days but it was between 28-24 days. In May I thought I ovulated but I was abroad alone. When I came back I quickly marked it down which day of the cycle that was and I marked the same day in June. We tried in June and it worked. I was so in denial I think I bought about 10 tests. I am in my fourth month with my first baby. Baby dust to you all and hope some of this helps.

Hi, I was told by a doctor a couple of weeks ago after having an ultra sound that I have a large cyst on my right ovary and that my left ovary is polycystic. My husband and I have been trying for a second child for over a year now. After coming off the pill i was without periods for over a year and they seemed to come back within the last 3 months but are very irregular. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is it possible i could fall pregnant naturally? My husband and i are anxious to fall pregnant and are hoping it will happen soon. please if anyone has any advice for me i will appreciate it! Thanks

I have never been regular with my periods... I tried all natural therapys and after thousands of dollars later i stoppped as they just werent doing nothing. I tried clomid and again nothing happened. I had a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy and all came back clear. I continued to try for many more yrs later and still no luck.. finally i was diagnosed with endometriosis and told I could never have kids. anyway a few yrs later when i gave up all hope i discovered i was pregnant and over half way thru. My little boy will be 6 in August.. I always thought having a bub would fix my period issue but it didnt. Recently i have been diagnosed with PCOS and again told i cant have kids as i had a bad case of it and if it did happen it would be a miracle... Well i have just found out im expecting my 2nd bub with no help at all. so not bad for been told i possibly cant have any more kids .. oh and also my current partner has a low sperm count.. im very lucky and i wish all you cpls out there who are hoping for a family some day that it does happen and PLS DONT GIVE UP HOPE AND DONT LISTERN TO EVERYTHING YOUR TOLD.. I CERTAINLY DID AND SPENT SLEEPLESS NIGHTS CRYING.. BELIEVE IN YOUR SELF AND I REALLY DO WISH YOU ALL LUCK..
