I think it is very wrong. ITs a breeding ground for pedofiles. Not to mention those girls are gonna have issues growing up. Mommy only loves me if I win. Teaching children that the outer looks of a person is what will get you by in life

Holy crap. This discussion really shifted. Someone really despises Tonya Darnell and found an outlet to attempt getting her bashed. This site is so wrong but fun to read when you are bored.

Are u serious?? Her girls are adorable!!! Y wouldn't a mom want their daughters dressed up cute for picture day?? Get a life and quit being so worried about everyone else ;)
Her children are cute, no one say they weren't. They were 25 minutes late for school cause mom said they couldn't leave until their hair was perfect. What kind of example is this woman setting. They had on makeup for school pictures. What kind of message is this; you're not pretty unless you do all this to look perfect. It is so very sad.

The bottom line is...those are her girls and she can dress them however she wants to!! I don't get why or how you could make this any of your business. I mean if ur so concerned for the two girls why not call Tonya and voice your opinion to her, instead of putting it on topix. I'm pretty sure u wouldn't dream of ;)

This is so crazy... you just can not please people at all. Mothers get bashed for not caring for their children and they get bashed for caring too much??? Really people get over your selves!

Back to the topic...

I use to put my daughter in pageants when she was about 2. There are different kinds of pageants. I believe you are talking about the "glitz" pageants with all the makeup and big hair. I didn't do those. Too expenisve for my family. However I don't think there is anything wrong with any of the pageants, to each his own. However I do want to point out that out of the 10 or so pageants that my daughter was in no one never, ever told any child invovled that they weren't pretty! Thats an ignorant statement! Pageants aren't evil, but like everything, it can be taken too far. As long as the child is having fun and wants to be there then I see absolutely nothing wrong with it!

The original question was: "do you think its right or wrong should little girls be judge on their looks is it healty for a child at a young age to be told your not pertty enough , is it wrong to put makeup on a young child tell why you think it right or why you think its wrong"

If you truly want an answer, I will give you one from experience. I was a "pageant kid" and I hated it. What I hated was walking away from my Barbie dolls to get my hair done-to go to modeling class. I hated not being able to be a kid. Did I learn from it? Absolutely. I learned to be outspoken, poised and how to behave when I had to and how to be a child when I wanted to. I learned to respect how I looked and how to respect myself and others.

Would I put my children in pageants? I thought about it and didn't. But let me pose this question: What is the difference between putting your child in a pageant, spending too much time getting ready for a photo, or any other event vs. putting them in sports (or any other activity), taking them to practices, buying them the best equipment, and putting them through private lessons of some sort. It all comes down to this: How much pressure are we all putting on our children to be successful and/or live vicariously through them? Anyone who says they don't live through their child some is a liar. We all want our children to succeed but let's not put too much stress and anxiety on them to make that happen. Let kids be kids.

Now,if you posted your question to take stabs at Tonya, this isn't the place. Her goal is to make her kids look nice-in her eyes--and that is her business. But if you posted your question for an honest answer, you got it from someone with experience.

WOW THATS TONYA DARNELL wrote:
I think it can be healthy and form a certain amount a grace. Keeping that in mind, there are those moms out there that think their kids should LIVE that way. It's so very sad. On picture day the Tonya Darnell's kids were late; in the office the little girl, who was twenty minutes late, said "mom said we couldn't come til our hair was done" Hello! Sending the wrong message there Tonya! It's one thing to be in pagents. It's another to eat sleep and breathe a lifestyle that is not healthy for the children. And she is so two-faced! Nice to your face and snide as soon as the person walks away. I wonder if she knows hwo many people make fun of her an those innocent girls (because of her) It's so jealousy, it's truth. Those poor girls. Their mommy still thinks she is in high school.
Wow!! can't the "office" get into trouble for sharing that kind of information about a child? As someone in education I would much rather see children taken care of and have lipstick on and pretty hair for picture day as opposed to a child that are hungry, and smell so bad that I gag when I lean in to help them, or little ones without their hair combed on picture day. You shouldn't call out any child on here and this is defamation! Get a life!

Oh Please, you ever been in the office? For that matter, anywhere in the burg? And do you even know what defamation is? It's lies. Duh!! I think its sad little kids who are hungry, poor and smell bad. But lady you are comparing cucumbers to corn stalks. And I wasn't calling out the child, I was her mommy. She's pathetic. The little girl was embarressed to be late is what she told my kid. Can you imagine having to tell your teacher you were late cause mommy was doing my hair. Pathetic!

Your kids must be ugly so you're hating on hers. Call her. She will probably help you out and fix your ugly kids hair :)
