Are you kidding me??????

8 traffic tickets in four years, a suspended license, and then you KILL SOMEONE WITH YOUR CAR, and that life is worthworth 30 days in jail??

As an attorney, I can only say this sentencing decision should be an embarassment to all IL citizens.

Why do we expect people to get proper licensing or maintain their vehicles or carry insurance when the penalties for not doing so amount to nothing?

Davor Jovic had received 8 traffic tickets, lost his license and continued to drive illegally anyway. 30 days in jail would be an appropriate punishment for that alone, not for killing a human being.

I applaud Amanda Meindl for seeking a 1 year sentence.

How is this not a felony charge, when the driver was driving on a suspended license?

Terrible. What a loss for the rider's wife, and now this extra slap in the face from the court system. This reminds me of the bad old days when drivers would receive a slap on the wrist for drunk driving, even if someone had been injured or killed because of it. It's time for a major publicity push for the cause of sharing the road. We need REAL penalties for criminal negligence and vehicular homicide.

According to this article, the defense attorney claimed the lack of skid marks means the driver was not responsible for killing the cyclist. Lack of skid marks can also mean Davor Jovic was completely oblivious. The multiple traffic citations indicate a careless driver. Did anyone check his cell phone records to see if he was talking on the phone? I feel very sad for John Rogdon's family.

Yet another IMMIGRANT causing death to an AMERICAN cyclist ! When will we wise up???

Regular Joe, you need to meet me somewhere and discuss this like men.
You are ignorant and probably Jovic himself. News update, this Davor Jovic has recieved a DUI and a speeding ticket 11 months after killing someone with his car while on suspension.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Taurus

If your goals are fairly modest in the short term, they are achievable and you're likely to get some praise for achievements along the way. If you aim too high too quickly, others might not take you seriously or think you're being uppity and you could come unstuck. It's all a question of attitude and approach. There are contradictory influences over the next ten days but there could also be good luck coming your way.
