Hey, RM! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Got duty today so I'm stuck on the ship, but it's okay. The galley crew is cooking us a fine meal. Take care!

To the article, Ew.

To Dagoth and RM, what do you guys do that requires long stays on ships? Not navy....? Or maybe it is and I just didn't realize there were bases in Az. But I get San Diego.

Perhaps a cruise line? Just curious.

I am not in the Military, Dagoth is. I am a consultant that travels 85% of the year.

I'm in the Navy stationed on a ship out of Everett, Washington. Long stays on the ship are mandatory for the entire crew, regardless of their job. The younger guys even live on the ship full time because they don't get paid enough to live out in town. We have duty sections and when it's your duty day inport, you have to stay onboard for 24-hours and stand watches.

As far as being at sea, Navy ships get underway anywhere from 6 hours to 6 months, depending on what we're doing. Sometimes deployments can last as long as 10 months.

Curiosity cured! Dagoth, I have a friend stationed in Chula Vista at the moment and then heading off to who knows where. Thanks for your service to the country!

I have a boat parked on the side of my house. It gets called into duty whenever the fish are biting or the weather is warm and skiing is calling me out.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
