Hail, wind storm second most costly in Colorado history

Wheat Ridge, Colorado. DENVER - The powerful hail and wind storm that downed trees, crushed homes and cars, and cut off power to tens of thousands of people in west metro Denver last week caused at least $350 million damage, making it the second most costly storm in Colorado history.

So you know, it was a tornado that hit Wheat Ridge/Arvada. It's obvious by the damage, not to mention some of us watched it touch down.

This whole Wheatridge/Arvada thing is pretty bizarre. The NWS seems to stick to the straight line winds claim(not that a 100mph microburst does any less damage than a tornado), but everyone else seems to think that it was a twister.

In the end, I guess it doesn't matter-but it's still odd that they haven't said word one about it being even a possible tornado

FYI - wasn't chasing anything. I saw it from my apartment (and darn near wet myself). A friend who lives nearby watched it touch down 100 yards from his house. It was a tornado.'kay?
