as an ex- resident of bridgeport, chief sweeny was a lousy chief of police. which brings us to suggest,or question," why did he leave the city of bridgeport as chief of police only to settle for hick town ? that is all i have to say about the matter.
let me remind you that they were many witnesses when mr.G was arrested and they stated that mr G. offered no resistant, non
hostile and cooperated
with the jerk police officer.
when mr G enter the restaurant, he was no threat to anyone inside, otherwise he would had lit up the place with gunfire. i guess police officer in question had a slow day and figure, geez, if i don't come in with an arrest, i can't make sgt.
the judge in question tossed out the breach of peace charge. even the judge believed that the arrest was uncalled for.
to mr principles in progress,i am a member of law enforcement.it must have taken two to three hours to do the paperwork ON MR.G and maybe another hour to book him.
three to four hours without street coverage,DUH !!!!!!!!!!
at least the judge saved a bed in prison for real hardened criminals.

Mr G came from a family where he was exposed to Law Enforcement. He should ask his Daddy if he ever went into a public place, in plain clothes, flaunting his piece like a commemorative gold piece. You are a member of Law Enforcement? I am impressed. That must give you the right to judge Sweeney. Just because he left Bridgeport for a so called hick town, that makes him a bad chief? I am assuming by your authoratative reasoning here, you are a ranking administrator? You seem to have a lot of answers. Just nothing that holds any weight.

to DUH !!!!! ONCE AGAIN LIKE IT OR NOT, THE OFFICER WHO ARRESTED MR. G. WAS DEAD WRONG !!
MAYBE IT MADE HIM FEEL LIKE A HERO ARRESTING HIM IN FRONT OF SO MANY GOOD LOOKING WOMEN FOR A STUPID BREACH OF PEACE CHARGE.AND CHIEF SWEENY HAD THE POWER TO DISMISS THE ARREST AND TO RETURN MR.Gs permit and firearm.
CHIEF SWEENY TOOK THE LOW ROAD.

MEMBERS OF CONNECTICUT LAW ENFORCEMENT HAVE KNOWINGLY AND INTENTIONALLY USED THE CONFIDENTIALITY PROVISIONS SURROUNDING THE APPLICATION, RENEW, AND REVOCATION PROCESS REGARDING CONNECTICUT FIREARMS PERMITS, TO CONCEAL THE UNLAWFUL CONDUCT OF SWORN OFFICERS WHO HAVE PERPETRATED FEDERAL AND STATE CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATIONS UPON LAW ABIDING CITIZENS OF CONNECTICUT ON A REGULAR AND ONGOING BASIS.

The arrest was made under the color of law during which property was seized from him without a warrant, which deprived Mr. Goldberg of his rights under the U.S. and State Constitutions. The facts will show that members of the Glastonbury Police Department failed to review the appropriate statutes, conduct a proper investigation, and understand the necessary elements of the criminal charge that was used to arrest Mr. Goldberg together with the fact that there was no reasonable probable cause or justification to subject Mr. Goldberg to the public embarrassment expenses necessary to vindicate himself at considerable expense.

The firearms laws of the State of Connecticut, as demonstrated by the record and manner in which they are understood, explained and enforced by sworn members of law enforcement, documents the fact that they are unconstitutionally vague and cannot be enforced in a manner that guarantees equal justice for those who possess the required permit to legally carry a pistol or revolver in the State of Connecticut.

The Glastonbury Police Department and other members of Connecticut Law Enforcement knowingly and intentionally make arrests by applying incorrect criminal statutes to facilitate what amounts to a pattern of law enforcement beliefs that are not supported by the current statutes.

The Glastonbury Police Department, and other members of Connecticut Law Enforcement, knowingly and intentionally fails to properly train police officers in the provisions of Connecticut Law pertaining to Firearms, and regularly act in an illegal manner by not informing complainants or businesses of the laws pertaining to carrying firearms by an individual in possession of a permit to do so.

I'm hoping for an update on this topic.

I observe that many posters don't know that the
Connecticut Pistol Permit is a "permit to carry."
It is NOT a "CONCEALED CARRY" permit.

Apparently, Glastonbury police don't understand this.

Also, most seem not to have read the judges decision to vacate the charge based on previous
cases: ie, just because someone gets "excited" about something isn't sufficient cause to claim a breach of peace.

In other words, if I wear a clown costume and someone is afraid of clowns, that is not sufficient evidence of a breach of peace.

So, should you be apoplectic at the sight of a firearm, that's not sufficient reason for a charge of breach of peace.

Get use to it, idiots.

Correct. Everyone should keep a 1,000,000 volt Taser on their nightstand. Perfectly legal and hassel free to buy and use, in your home.
