Mr. Lorden is the best! I hated math forever and he helped me to increase my SAT score and get into the college of my choice. He is one of the teachers i will always remember at K-O. Thanks for all of your help Mr Lorden!

Whether you graduated K-O in the '70's,'80's, or '90's, every student feels this way about Mr. Lorden. He was the best. Period.

Reading this article made me extremely nostalgic and honored to have been one of the many influenced by Mr. Loren. It's been about 18 years since and I am forever thankful for the time spent in "extra help" after school with him. I hadn't since seen an educator so dedicated to his students. He willingly stayed until every student was satisfied that they got the help they needed all the while adding humor and compassion. Thank you Mr. Loren!

Kudos for Mr Lorden. To be a vibrant & useful member of society in my old age is my fondest wish & he shows me that it is possible.

Mr. Lorden is a fantastic teacher. About 15 years ago he tutored me for the SAT and helped me raise my score significantly. This man should write a book

Eeep - this brings back awful memories!
We didn't have to in primary (they didn't have showers).....but secondary. There were 2 teachers and one had to supervise the queue - and yes we had to line up naked and basically walk through a communal shower. There were only about 5 shower heads and about 40+ kids! so you had to put towel onto peg, join queue and walk through - occasionally female teacher would bark about not washing properly and would send someone to go through again. This started off 'irregular periods' LOL and then it just seemed safer to avoid the lessons so I didn't bother to attend the lessons and would hide in all sorts of places. Then I realised that it was not just the running lessons that were bad, unfortunately, I think I probably missed a lot of school over all. I still hate any form of exercise or sport to this day and I just remember worrying about it from one week to the next. If my child turns out to be half as worried as me, I think I would just withdraw her from school and home educate. This amount of stress just isn't worth it. I don't think any good has ever come from it. Never in my post-school life have I had to stand naked in a queue and shower in front of people who hated me. I would expect there is better treatment in prison!
So now DJW is having irregular perods.
I knew he had no balls but this is something else.

I think what Joel Lorden is doing is great, but the article specifically states that he is NOT "volunteering": although he declined to mention how much he charges, he's clearly running a business. Someone with his experience and knowledge deserves to be compensated for his time and effort... much like those much-maligned teachers in public schools.
Funny how some people will use any flimsy premise to bash unions and/or teachers.
I believe he charges $35 an hour...2016

I think any 81 year old priest no matter how old he is or how long ago his crimes were committed should be prosecuted by a Pennsylvania SWAT Team.

Boys in PE wear short white shorts only with no underwear and girls wear black long sleeve shirts and track pants. Sometimes we pants each other to impress the girls.
