There was the sell-off immediately upon hearing the good news from Bernanke of an improving U S economy, housing market remarkable recovery notwithstanding--the only thing 'inevitable' was that there would be so many short-term takers grabbing for the short term fruit . The wise money investors will be putting even more of their own money up front now that over-confidence is at all-time highs again. Here's Maria Bartiromo's take on the 'market dive'. Guess it's better to remain optimistic.

Call me naive, but I don't understand how the entire civilized world is unable to collectively stop the atrocities in Syria.

And why they were unable to do the same in Rwanda and Darfur.

Isn't there enough military power collectively to put a quick and swift end to this kind of suffering?

What exactly is the purpose of the UN besides wringing their hands?

It appears Bernanke is going to be fired-I see January as I stated at the end of last year. I see economists saying it is a global blood bath. They are shocked that this is happening now. All markers were in place into 2015. It is not wise that this is happening now with China slowing down the entire globe is watching and selling. Blood bath brought to us by the O'bama administration. Generally speaking, you don’t see Fed policy shift this quickly. Usually, policy changes happen slowly -- hinted about at first, then executed in small steps. Bernanke started hinting last month that he might start tapering. Then yesterday, he said it could very well be over by mid-2014! That’s not a taper, that’s a sudden STOP!Usually, policy changes happen slowly -- hinted about at first, then executed in small steps. Bernanke’s comments came out of left field. I saw this coming over a month ago. We then got out of the gold business. Wheew close one.

Racism seems everywhere including the resignation of GOP type today,

An Illinois Republican official resigned Thursday, after writing a vicious attack on a biracial, female congressional candidate–calling her the “love child” of the Democratic National Committee, destined to work for “some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires.”
The target was Erika Harold, a former Miss America and Harvard Law graduate who is seeking the Republican nomination for the 13th congressional district in central Illinois.
Montgomery County GOP Chairman Jim Allen referred to Harold as “miss queen,” and said that she was “being used like a street walker,” whose “pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS.” Allen sent the email to the conservative website Republican News Watch, which posted the text in full and called it a “racist rant.”

All the Dems did was make the banks stop redlining. It was Georgie boy who, in an attempt to boost minority homeownership, asked Congress for authority to eliminate the down-payment requirement for Federal Housing Administration loans.
"Nothing-down options were available on the private mortgage market, but, in general, they required the borrower to have pristine credit. Bush's proposed change extended the nothing-down option to borrowers with blemished credit."
"In the proposal....Bush allowed the FHA to guarantee loans for the full purchase price of the home, plus down-payment costs. As a practical matter, the FHA would guarantee mortgages as high as 103% of the value of the underlying property."
Bush did it!!! Own up to it.

<quoted text> Why can't Republicans learn from their mistakes? "It’s as if they didn’t learn a thing from the 2012 elections. Republicans are on the same suicide mission as before -- trying to block immigration reform (if they can’t scuttle it in the Senate, they’re ready to in the House), roll back the clock on abortion rights (they’re pushing federal and state legislation to ban abortions in the first 22 weeks), and stop gay marriage wherever possible.
As almost everyone knows by now, this puts them the wrong side of history. America is becoming more ethnically diverse, women are gaining economic and political power, and young people are more socially libertarian than ever before.
Why can’t Republicans learn?
It’s no answer to say their “base”— ever older, whiter, more rural and male — won’t budge. The Democratic Party of the 1990s simply ignored its old base and became New Democrats, spearheading a North American Free Trade Act (to the chagrin of organized labor), performance standards in classrooms (resisted by teachers’ unions) and welfare reform and crime control (upsetting traditional liberals).
The real answer is the Republican base is far more entrenched, institutionally, than was the old Democratic base. And its power is concentrated in certain states — most of the old Confederacy plus Arizona, Alaska, Indiana, and Wisconsin — which together exert more of a choke-hold on the Republican national party machinery than the old Democrats, spread widely but thinly over many states, exerted on the Democratic Party."
