I don't expect the government to enforce anything. I'm appealing to parents and other adults to care more about their kids' health than their own pleasure.

Putin in 2009 outlined his strategy for economic success. Alas, poor Obama did the opposite but nevertheless was re-elected. Bye, bye Miss American Pie. The Communists have won in America with Obama but failed miserably in Russia with Zyuganov who only received 17% of the vote. Vladimir Putin was re-elected as President keeping the NWO order out of Russia while America continues to repeat the Soviet mistake.
After Obama was elected in his first term as president the then Prime Minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin gave a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January of 2009. Ignored by the West as usual, Putin gave insightful and helpful advice to help the world economy and saying the world should avoid the Soviet mistake.
Recently, Obama has been re-elected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them. He gives speeches of peace and love in the world while he promotes wars as he did in Egypt, Libya and Syria. He plans his next war is with Iran as he fires or demotes his generals who get in the way.
I wonder what the election results would have been if a high school diploma or equivalent was required to vote?

Always beware of percentages. If a county moves from one food stamp recipient to two food stamp recipients, that is "growth" of 100%.
Like the unemployment rate is 7.9%.... 7.9% of what? Is that percentage of former workers collecting unemployment benefits or the percentage of people who are able to work but aren't? I'll bet it's actually much higher than 7.9%.

His comment was a bit self-serving, considering the fact that he was making a living selling books.

You ain't seen nothin' yet. With the upsurge in the number of police cameras, undetectable drones and other high-tech surveillance equipment, the government will soon be able to monitor everything everybody does. Passive radar technology is being improved to allow police to "see through" walls (they say it's for military purposes only, yeah, right) You won't even be immune from surveillance in your own home. Before long "Big Brother" will REALLY be watching you.

Pravda.ru is a Russian online tabloid not ashamed to feature woo, denialism, and various conspiracy theories. It also covers "normal" news, but often with a heavy Russian nationalist slant. Pravda means "truth" in Russian, something you probably won't get by surfing on it. The name (and a few former collaborators, apparently) is the sole link with the former Communist newspaper Pravda.

<quoted text>All of the adult males on my dad's side of the family (and a few females too) were smokers when I was a kid and it dang near killed me more than once. I had bronchitis when I was little and not one of those adults was willing to make an effort to quit. Every house I lived in or relative I visited had a home that was thick with smoke. There wasn't a room I could escape to that I wasn't coughing and/or choking. Winter was the worst. I always caught a cold AND the flu every winter and it always turned serious for me. If I wanted to breath at all I had to flee to the outdoors no matter how sick I was and then returning inside in the evening with the dry heat and smoke that built up after work was torturous on my little body. My eyes, throat and lungs felt like they were on fire
It must've sucked being you. Here's a helpful tip. Just don't breath while I'm smoking.

Actually Carol none of the sites you refer to prove anything.
The first merely states that the State of Indiana was siding with the owners of a power plant against EPA regulations which is not surprising since the executive and legislative branches are solidly Republican and have this tendency anyway.
The second is a story about how interest groups and two states are challenging EPA regulations. You seemed to miss the part where sixteen states and NYC have intervened on behalf of the EPA because they don't want their air fouled by power plants in states seeking laxer regulation.
The third is a website for the right wing Southeastern Legal Foundation and again offers no proof of anything except that right wingers are in the pockets of big coal and don't care that these industries effect the lives of the rest of us by spewing mercury a known neurotoxin into the air and into our drinking water and a variety of toxic heavy metals that spew into the air and leach into the water supply from coal ash.

<quoted text>The government states it is not up to the rental property owner. He is prohibited from allowing smoking in his properties whether he wants to or not. I saw where there are localities that ban smoking in your own house if you have children. Saw it on the news once.
Nobody needs to smoke. If smoking was prohibited, health care costs in America would be cut in half. Smoking is the number one cause of cancer, heart disease and stroke. 46% of lung cancer cases are caused by secondhand smoke. 60% of house fires are caused by dropped cigarettes. Thousands of endangered sea turtles eat butts thrown on our beaches and die from stomach cancer. Like the possession of deadly firearms, it's time for the Government to outlaw this filthy, deadly habit. They should render the firearms industry and tobacco industry sad relics from America's past, like Bush and Reagan. Hopefully President Obama can accomplish these goals before his third term.
