I buy less stuff. Everywhere you look there are consignment shops, antinque shops, and yard sales. People accumulate so much stuff and then don't know what to do with it. So now, I never buy anything, unless I absolutely need it. When I do shop, especially for kids clothes, I buy from consignment shops as often as possible. You can find great clothes in excellent condition at very low cost. It is a great way to re-use!

I'm a fond believer of consignment shops. I find some awesome deals for myself. I'm getting spoiled though, when I go to consignments shops, I find designer clothes at a fraction of the original cost. Some of the clothes I find are brand new with the tags still on them! Just recently I bought an authentic coach handbag, practically new and got an aweseome deal on it. The best part is, after a certain amount of time, most of these shops mark items down. So I see something that I like, and 9 out of 10 times, it's still there 1 month later, and marked down.

Another way is to join freecycle.org . This is like a free online tag sale, where you "post" something that they want to get rid of, and the "freecycle" community has a chance to reuse it, if you're the lucky recipient. I've cleaned out my house, attic, garage, etc many, many times. This way you know that nothing is going to clutter the landfill.

I ride my bicycle everywhere, in the winter, to work, grocery shopping, and for fun. I don't have a car and I don't plan on owning one.
