UTC/PRATT & WHITNEY ORDERED TO PAY $1 BILLION FINE IN ILLEGAL OVERCHARGES OF F-16 JET ENGINES

Fourteen years after charges were first filed, federal contractor United Technologies Corporation has been ordered to pay almost $1 billion in misconduct fees to the government.

The original lawsuit from March 3, 1999, by the Department of Justice, accused UTC's Pratt & Whitney Division of overcharging the Air Force for jet engines by approximately $75 million. The contract was in force between 1985 and 1991.

GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY OFFICE:
PENTAGON WASTES TAX-PAYER FUNDS,LACK OF DOCUMENTATION

Payments that shouldn't have been made cost the Department of Defense at least $1.1 billion in 2011 and possibly much more, according to a congressional watchdog agency.

The Government Accountability Office found that DOD's "long-standing history of pervasive financial management weaknesses, coupled with problematic sampling methodologies and the lack of adequate supporting documentation, contributed to improper payment estimates that were not reliable."

Things aren't likely to improve any time soon, either, GAO said, because DOD has not fully addressed the causes following 2009 audit, so the Pentagon remains "at risk of continuing to make improper payments and wasting taxpayer funds."

CONGRESS: FORCE NLRB TO UPHOLD RIGHT-TO-WORK LAWS

Democracy is coming to the American workplace, slowly. Twenty-four states now have right-to-work laws, but Big Labor continues fighting them tooth and nail, often with the same underhanded tactics it uses to harass independent-minded workers in states without right-to-work statutes. That's why Congress should focus like a laser on the National Labor Relations Board.

Right-to-work laws guarantee that workers cannot be forced to join a union or pay dues to one as a condition of employment. But unions are in charge of administering these laws. Well -- surprise!-- they typically make it as difficult as possible for workers who resist unions and do as little as required to inform workers of their right-to-work options.

HOW TO QUIT YOUR UNION AND KEEP YOUR MONEY

STATE OF CONNECTICUT:

Because Connecticut is not a Right-to-Work state, your freedom to leave your union is restricted, but you still have options to leave or reduce your union membership.

The first option is to become an agency fee payer, which means you only pay dues for the union’s cost of collective bargaining, contract administration and grievance adjustment. As an agency fee payer, you do not pay for any other activities, including the union’s political activities.

As an agency fee payer, you are not a member of the union, but since you continue to pay the “representative” portion of your dues, the union must continue to represent you fairly and without discrimination in all matters subject to collective bargaining.

As an agency fee payer you are still entitled to every benefit under the labor contract with your employer, including health care, pension, step increases, etc.

FORMER CIA OFFICER WARNS AGAINST TRUSTING THE FBI

Whistle-blower John Kiriakou, a former CIA agent serving jailtime for leaking classified information, wrote an open-letter to Edward Snowden that was published yesterday, warning him against trusting the FBI.

Kiriakou is serving a 32-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to releasing the identity of a covert officer to a reporter. The covert officer was a participant in waterboarding interrogations which Kiriakou publicly condemned.

“FBI agents will lie, trick, and deceive you,” Kiriakou writes.“They will twist your words and play on your patriotism to entrap you. They will pretend to be people they are not – supporters, well-wishers, and friends – all the while wearing wires to record your out-of-context statements to use against you. The FBI is the enemy; it’s a part of the problem, not the solution.”

AFFIDAVIT FROM TED L. GUNDERSON: FORMER FBI

"Based on my investigative work...I have come to the conclusion that
thousands of victims have been targeted by an illegal government rogue
criminal enterprise that is active 24 hours a day in the U.S. This
conspiracy is far too active to be controlled or operated by private
enterprise whose goals are achieving financial gain. These operations
require extensive financing with no return on the investment. This
program's operations are financed by illegal black operations, i.e.,
narcotics, prostitution...

I have documentation and know that throughout the U.S., operating 24
hours a day and 7 days a week, there is a Central Command...whose
administrators can instantly initiate surveillance, phone taps and
harassment against anyone in the country...at any time, day or night. I
have files on numerous cases of active, programmatic, illegal
government harassment currently being conducted against thousands of
Americans. This makes the FBI's former COINTELPRO program, which I
worked on, including in a supervisory capacity, look like a Sunday
school program by comparison."

- former FBI Assistant Director, Ted L. Gunderson, in an affidavit in support of F.O.I.A. plaintiff's case in Labella v. FBI, et. al., 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 37830 (E.D.N.Y. Mar.19, 2012)(Garaufis,J.)

In short, the gang-stalking program is a modern-day McCarthy Red Scare. It is, for all intents and purposes, a COINTELPRO, albeit with some twists.

The term “gang stalking” is one that is generally known to many victims of this program. If one searches for any number of the hallmarks of this program,“gang stalking” is a term that one will see, as well as “organized stalking”,“cause stalking”,“community-based harassment” and “community mobbing”. Others are calling it “neo-COINTELPRO”, while some have labeled it “COINTELPRO2″ or “COINTELPRO 2.0″.

Whatever one chooses to call it, this much is clear:

It is government-supported and it’s spawning violence in any number of ways. There is no doubt that this program is resulting in suicides, homicides, and mass-shootings. It is also responsible for thefts, arson and other crimes — some of the hallmarks of this program.

It is decidedly un-American and runs counter to the rule of law and Constitution.

The House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) ran counter to law and the Constitution during the McCarthy era, labeling many Americans as “communists.” Similarly, in Orwellian fashion, the gang-stalking program has cloaked itself in a veil of constitutionality and patriotism and, in doing so, has proceeded to eviscerate the most fundamental principles of a rule-of-law based, constitutional democracy. Acceptance by the populace of the murder of its citizens without due process, and indefinite suspension of Habeas Corpus (the “Great Writ”, which is the foundation of due process rights, dating back to England’s Magna Carta of 1215) marks the withering away of the rule-of-law based society based on American jurisprudence and established by the Supreme Court in the case of Marbury v. Madison in 1803.

In conducting this program, the government is using the specter of terrorism, as it did with communism in the past, to overreact and create an atmosphere of fear and paranoia. Using COINTELPRO and counterinsurgency tactics, U.S. citizens are being targeted in the U.S.— without due process of law, without any probable cause.

It is our contention that this program is the equivalent of domestic terrorism as defined in the Patriot Act, Title VIII, Section 802.(To be expanded…)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY:

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

____Benjamin Franklin

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

____UN Declaration on Human Rights

Democracy requires an informed citizenry in order to function properly, and transparency and accountability are essential parts of that. That means knowing what our government is doing to us, in our name.

____Bruce Schneier - Schneier.com

[The National Security Agency's] capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left, such is the capability to monitor everything: telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn’t matter. There would be no place to hide.

____Senator Frank Church, 1975

It will be shocking for me if American citizens allow this to continue.

THE NSA AND THAT 1970'S SHOW (COINTELPRO)

The NSA had been operating for about a quarter century by the time the Church Committee investigations into domestic spying by U.S. intelligence agencies began in 1975. What came out of the Committee was (illegal) domestic spying by intelligence agencies had been carried out against left-leaning dissidents—anti-war groups, civil rights groups and the radical left. The warning issued at the time (1975) was that NSA’s capabilities were intrusive enough that if turned against Americans the capacity for totalitarian control would exist. Current calls for another Church Committee to investigate NSA spying face the challenge of history—the first Church Committee caused a minor interruption, but no substantive changes, in the trajectory toward totalitarian control. And the strategy of ‘official’ Washington is to create the illusion of change through investigation. Enough is already known to arrest and prosecute senior NSA leadership for current abuses.

THE EMPEROR STRIKES BACK

by ANDREW LEVINE

Governments abhor transparency, and governments lie. To keep them (comparatively) honest, an engaged and informed citizenry is indispensable.

That requires media that are aggressive and probing, and that are not afraid to speak the truth. We have precious little of that in the United States today.

Government media policy, bought and paid for by corporate interests, has done the cause of transparency incalculable harm. The Internet driven decline of print media hasn’t helped either.

Investigative reporting is now on the ropes, along with almost every other facet of genuine journalism.

Feature writing on apolitical subjects fills some of the void. It keeps our “quality press” from becoming useless. But mind-numbing fluff, long the stock and trade of the Fourth Estate, is the media’s currency of choice.

At the same time, however, more hard information than ever is out there; and it is available around the clock. For that, ironically, we also have the Internet to thank.

WHAT ABOUT SOME PATRIOTISM FOR AMERICA?

A Message To Big Corporations
By Ralph Nader

Wouldn’t it be appropriate for the large corporations that were founded in the United States to show a similar acknowledgement of patriotism?

After all, these corporations rose to their enormous size on the backs of American workers. Their success can be attributed to taxpayer-subsidized research and development handouts. Not to mention those corporations that rushed to Washington D.C. for huge bailouts from the taxpayers when mismanagement or corruption got them into serious trouble.

How do these companies show their gratitude to their home country? Many of them send jobs overseas to dictatorial regimes and oligarchic societies who abuse their impoverished workers — all in the name of greater profits. Meanwhile, back home, corporate lobbyists continue to press for more privileges and immunities so as to be less accountable under U.S. law for corporate crimes and other misbehaviors.

NSA RECRUIT DRIVE GOES HORRIBLY WRONG (LOL)

****Staff from the National Security Agency got more than they bargained for when they attempted to recruit students to their organisation earlier this week......

Tahir: "I think the question here is do you actually think about the ramifications of the work that you do, which is deeply problematic, or do you just dress up in costumes and get drunk?" [A reference to an earlier comment the recruiter made about NSA employees working hard and going to the bar to do karaoke.]

Recruiter 2: "... reporting the info in the right context is so important because the consequences of bad political decisions by our policymakers is something we all suffer from."

Unnamed female student: "And people suffer from the misinformation that you pass along so you should take responsibility as well."

Later still ...

Male student: "General Alexander [head of the NSA] also lied in front of Congress."

Recruiter 1: "I don't believe that he did."

Male student: "Probably because access to the Guardian is restricted on the Department of Defence's computers. I am sure they don't encourage people like you to actually think about these things. Thank God for a man like Edward Snowden who your organisation is now part of a manhunt trying to track down, trying to put him in a little hole somewhere for the rest of his life. Thank God they exist."

PORN!, WINE!, NERF BALLS!: IRS CHARGES IT UP
A lack of oversight allowed Internal Revenue Service employees to purchase wine and pornography, among other things, with government-issued credit cards, the agency's inspector general said.
The IRS made more than 273,000 purchases totaling more than $103 million by using credit cards and another $4.4 million using convenience checks, the inspector general said in a June 20 report. The purchases took place in 2010 and 2011.
Of the almost 400 cards given to employees, just two percent were cut off before the employee to which they were assigned left the IRS, the IG said. The exact number cut off was not specified in the report, but two percent of 400 is eight.

Once again it just defines another example of the level of unchecked corruption existing today in any of these entities/agencies!

FBI CORRUPTION:

FBI'S SECRETS: AN AGENT'S EXPOSE

By M. Wesley Swearingen

Forward:
Lifting the Shroud of Secrecy by Ward Churchill

"During the ten years that I was on the U.S. Intelligence Board....never once did I hear anybody, including myself, raise the questions: "Is this course of action which we have agreed upon lawful, is it legal, is it moral and ethical?" We never gave any thought to that realm of reasoning...(only) Will this course of action work, will it get us what we want, will it reach the objective we desire to reach?"

(by Former FBI Assistant Director, Domestic Intelligence Division)

.......From an array of sources......emerges a portrait of a massive, deeply entrenched and increasingly ubiquitous institutional entity devoted to the curtailment of domestic political action and expression. The individual objects of the bureau's attentions in this respect have been people as different in their lives and outlooks as Ernest Hemingway, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Russell Means, Janis Joplin, Heuy P. Newton and Joan Baez.....

On record, the methods employed against such "deviants" have included every sort of tactic from discrediting targeted persons or groups by circulating defamatory rumors about them in the communities and/or planting false reports about them in the media, to causing "political objectionable individuals" to be evicted from their homes and fired from their jobs by contacting their landlords and employers, to orchestrating the repeated arrests on spurious charges of those targeted, to obtaining the conviction and consequent imprisonment of "key activists" by introducing fabricated evidence against them at trial, to provoking inter- and intra-group violence (and worse).

(Author) retired in 1977 (after 25yrs)......completely disillusioned because of the FBI's widespread dishonesty and corruption.....had lost the ability to distinguish between different levels of corruption.

(Author)In the beginning when saw agents being encouraged to cheat on their examinations,(author) was shocked. But after 20yrs of seeing a whole bureau cheat on Inspector's examinations, concoct fictitious informants, manufacture phony informant reports, and create false statistics, even the most egregious levels of corruption -- when top FBI officials lied to the courts, the Department of Justice, and to the U.S. Congress -- no longer shocked me.

After witnessing 20 years of FBI wrongdoing, accepted it as a means to survive in the bureau (including: not saying anything to U.S. Attorney General or judge when learning of a framing for murder and false imprisonment).
