It is unfortunate that some employees have evidently settled for less in many areas. Public service does not mean serve yourself...
Could it be time to raise the bar? Maybe this will serve as an effective wake-up call.

If her story is true, she used very poor judgment. I'm sure this woman would have found help among her co-workers. Others have been helped in the past. $625 is a pittance to lose your job and future prospects.

Raise the bar how? These are entry-level positions. Do you think people with college degrees and job experience will want these jobs? And what sort of wake-up call do you think this should be? How would the DMV, or any employer, predict that an employee might steal from them?

Nor can it be assumed that the employees hired based on "raising the bar" (i.e., the more educated) are any less capable of stealing.

That's horrible. Why would you want to lose such a good job over 625.00. If she really needed help that bad she could have gone to the state and they probably would of helped her because she is a single mother. That's so sad she needed to steal money and food for her kid.whats wrong with people these days. Now she will have a very hard time ever finding a job.I feel so sad for her child.

On the bright side, perhaps a more honest individual will land this decent job. And perhaps they will appreciate it.

Maybe she would be good material for DCF, they love people like her to lie, steal, and to help officially kidnap children.

Put her in jail and make an example out of her. So what if she is a single mother, a thief is thief. This is only one time she got caught. She's probably done this a number of times. Imagine paying to get your driver's license restored, needing it for work, and then having your money stolen and have no driver's license, how'd you like that? Connecticut already steals too much in taxes and everything else. I left. People that used to live in Connecticut are flooding the towns up here up into Maine. They say it take about 6 months or so until you get the Connecticut stress, impatience, and jerk attitude out of you from having lived in Connecticut.

Live free or die!

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Pisces

It's a great day for fixing anything that needs attention now. That might be a dripping tap, a sick child, an unpaid bill or a miffed partner. However, you'll do particularly well if you need to sort out something connected with official or joint finances or red tape. You might be asked to help someone deal with a bureaucratic problem, especially if they're elderly.
