The Trial of Heather Specyalski

It's a sad day when a jury of our peers decides that parents have no responsibility for the welfare of their children, even under their own roof. From firsthand knowledge, I can say that the parties at the residence of Heather Specyalski of 179 Seckar Road in Ashford were a regular occurrence. They were not only condoned by Ms. Specyalski, they were enabled by her as she purchased the alcohol for them. She was present for them, flirting with the high school boys and, occasionally, taking one of them to her bedroom, as she did with one young man that was in her son's class. My personal experience with this party house comes from having to chase my own child down at one of these parties. I did not find out where my kid was until roughly 3am the morning of April 5, 2008. When I arrived, the party was still in full swing. There were kids bumbling around the yard drunk. I pounded on the front door and demanded that my child be sent out along with another child that had attended the party with mine. While standing at the door, I had a perfect view of a large round coffee table that couldn't have accommodated one more empty beer can be placed on it. I have great regret and guilt that I did not call the police that early morning in April, 2008, as had I, maybe young Brandon would still be alive. Maybe the courts would have removed him from his Mother's home, and he could have gotten the help that he needed. Maybe he would have graduated high school and gone onto college, as many of his classmates have done. Not to be a Monday morning quarterback, but I feel the prosecution missed an opportunity to ask two questions. 1) What did Mr. Whitehouse and Mr. Neborsky have to gain by testifying against Ms. Specyalski? Answer: Nothing but the satisfaction that Brandon be given representation by his friends. 2) What did Ms. Specyalski and her family have to gain by trashing the reputations of these two young men? Answer: Her freedom from any legal responsibility in the death of her son. As a classic narcissist, she is incapable of introspection. Otherwise, she would be tormented by how her actions and inactions contributed to the death of her child. She would be disgusted by the way she, her family, and her attorney attacked Brandon's best friends, when all they wanted was for the truth to come out. Young Mr. Whitehouse was far more the parent in Brandon's last hours than his own mother was, yet she attacked him and accused him of lying. She is a pathological, sociopathic narcissist. Brandon's death combines the worst circumstances imaginable: A young man with substance abuse tendencies; A parent that has condoned and enabled these tendencies: A parent that now refuses to take any responsibility in her own son's death, when she is clearly culpable. This is a truly scary society we live in when a jury of our peers condones this type behavior on the part of a parent.

Well said. I live in CT and only just learned of this horrible trajedy after seeing Dr. Phil today. This woman should be in jail! Were you aware of her 1st "acquittal" for manslaughter in the death of her fiance in 99? Unbelievable! Why havent charges been filed against her for having sex with minors yet? Hopefully she will be charged and found guilty after Dr. phil concludes tomorrow. How she has repeatedly eluded jail is mind boggling to me!

Just watched Heather on Dr. Phil. She is clearly an addict. Shame on her parents and Dr.'s for enabling her for so long. I doubt she'll ever do hard time but once she gets sober ( if she does) she will live with the hard truth that she IS responsible for the death of her son.

Heather is clearly a narcissist with no incite into her behavior - I believe this enables her to salve her conscience. Perhaps someday she will feel the full brunt of what she did and, without help, I wouldn't be surprised if she then kills herself.

....... the kid didn't stand a chance. Heather will never take responsibility for her actions, not when she can blame others, and others ARE partly to blame. Since when do parents of 15 year olds let their kids out all night doing whatever they want? Knowing Heather was, well, what she clearly IS, was Brandon's father right when he sent his son to her to SEE what trash she chose to be? Fact is, many are to blame. But mostly the BLAME for that DEATH lies with Heather. Being a party girl cost a man his life 10 years earlier, oral sex in a moving car is really not a good idea. So she sued his estate because he didn't keep his head and crashed while she was just having a bit of fun. And when there was a critical situation the night her son died she just ignored the problem, figured it was just another party. Tucked him in and went to bed, just another party passing. Heather, you never deserved a child who would love you unconditionally, look to you for guidance and protection. You, by choice, chose not to be the mother he needed. He died because of choices YOU made. And others became victims as well. His family, his friends, even people he never met who know the story and shed tears for a young man who missed out on so much life has to offer. But Heather made it clear on Dr. Phil, she only thinks of her loss, claims no responsibility for her son's death. She plays victim. I wouldn't want to be her when she finally faces the truth.

She is definitely sick and is a narcissist that truly cares for no one but herself. I hope and pray that the boys that she has molested find help and closure and goes on to have successful and fulfilling lives. She should be in jail!

This woman is revolting. Here's what I don't get: her ex-husband seems like a fairly intelligent man. How the heck did he get involved with this vile creep? I understand she's an addict, but in addition to be impaired, she's appears as dumb as a post....and irresponsible...and obnoxious. Did you see how she tried to dodge the question about assaulting her son's friends? I read about her previous "accident". Classy woman. I agree w/ Dr Phi-she's going to kill herself, probably sooner rather than later. The only thing I regret is that she will probably take someone down with her. That friend Bernice should run from this train wreck as fast as she can.

I can't believe the courts let this woman walk around freely without making her get help. Her friend need to protect her son from this woman because she is a walking time bomb. She is a liar and it is clear that she did molested her son's friends. That fake crying was just to get Dr. Phil to move on to something else.

How is this woman walking free and why don't those boys file charges on her for rape? Why don't their parents sue her ass? This is ridiculous. She is clearly responsible for her son's death and is clearly an idiot that loves the attention she gets, however she can get it (be it Dr. Phil or otherwise)

I'm appalled that she was acquitted.. She is a mess and yea she needs help but she def needs to go to prison for what she did to her son and to the other boys. She doesn't deserve to go to a comfy rehab she needs to be locked up. I hope the state of Ct, the DA decides to find a way to procecute for neglect or something..

On a side note..she makes people who are in chronic pain and taking there meds appropriately endure more problems w/ getting there meds bc of the people like her.

If this was a man, how long would it take to slap the cuffs on him and
charge him with two counts of RAPE. Let alone manslaughter.
What a waste of skin she is.
Her friend should drop her like a hot rock and not have anything to
do with her.
I suppose when she was 20 years younger she was a good looking
blonde and made a good trophy wife. That's the only reason anyone
would marry that dumb blonde.(Oh I guess she gives a good ........job)
I can't believe I am wasting valuable time even thinking about this
RAPIST AND MULTIPLE MURDERER.

I seriously can't believe she wouldn't at the very LEAST take the FREE help Dr Phil offered her. Literally that was her only chance to get herself clean and healthy and start taking responsibility for her actions. Now she's gonna be both a danger to herself and others.

I feel this case needs to be reopened. I believe the only reason why it hasn't been brought to light is because it was going on during the silly Jodi Arias Reality Show. Please help this woman get some help. This case needs to be reopened, if not for own life but because she's a train that's already off the track and is a danger to others.

Everyone needs to stop blaming her... None of you even know the whole story. Her ex husband manipulated Dr. Phil and the entire audience into thinking that it was her fault. She doesn't need therapy, her ex does..

Doesn't it strike you as odd that you're the only person defending that train wreck? It wouldn't surprise me to find out you're Heather, or one of her enablers. She must have multiple enablers. One doesn't get into that condition without it.

No, I don't even know her. Everyone was coming at her and it wasn't even her fault. There needs to be someone to defend her
