What a waste of energy in these times. Have we not learned? Do we really need lights for a little league field. Play before dark!!

Lights on a field in Wethersfield? Outrageous!!!!!! There are going to be hoodlums lurking in the dark, lots of traffic in the park after dark. I hope the lights don't bother the people who live nearby. These kids should be home reading or watching TV or playing video games, not playing baseball at night. I hope they will hire a police man to controll the crowds and keep the undesirables away.

The Town of Wethersfield definately has their head in the sand, excuses for years about lights for the football field ~ but they decide to cut down trees in beloved Mill Woods for a new little League field with lights but Highland's outfield is still uneven for 30 years - the "new" high school field is a joke with one type of grass for the outfield and another for the dustbowl of an infield, compare those fields in Rocky Hill & Newington, you wonder who makes the decisions on the taxpayers dollar? While I'm add it - when is the town going to repair the broke bricks on the sidewalks along Silas Deane in front of the "new" Town Hall?

Geez...some dedicated people work to do something and get slammed for doing it. The lights are out by 9 PM. I know because I was at a game the other night. The kids are there playing baseball, with their families watching. Better than them wandering around with nothing to do or surfing the internet. The field is beautiful, it doesn't bother any nearby homes, and private donations are offsetting costs. I agree that most of Wethersfield's athletic facilities are an embarrassment compared to other towns...but don't knock people who took some initiative to fix that.

Nobody knows how to waste money (our money) better than our idiot town council. This whole town is a JOKE. I hope the new town manager works out. Bonnie was a joke too.

It's amazing that anyone would want to come here with fools like you and some of these others. Every time something good happens in the community we have to suffer through a bunch of flat earth commentary like this. Why don't you move South with people of your mental state and stop bothering folks who are trying to keep us from becoming a second class community. And comments like “Harriet’s "...But I've seen some shady looking people there at night…” represents bigotry at its highest. Why don’t you freakin’ people get a life??!!

As a mom to a Little League player, I am thrilled with the new field. There are 14 major little league teams this year, and having three fields to play at now helps so much with scheduling. I am not sure how many AAA and AA teams there are, but I'm guessing about the same. That's 42 teams that need to play weekly. That's 21 games to find room for each week. Games typically start at 5, lasting 2 hours, which means only one game can be played before it's getting dark. It's been a wonderful experience this year. It's great to see the families together cheering our boys on at this beautiful field.

You parents are pretty funny. Oh, oh, to watch our darlings play ball is just the best thing EVER! Ugh. Watch them play ball and the race home to watch Jon and Kate plus 8!
