These are probably the weirdos who smacked a 9 month old or like that abusive nanny in Florida that smacked the crap out of the kid repeatedly and threw things at him. Babies are going to cry. Toddlers are going to scream. Little by little they may learn to control themselves by having to sit on a time-out bench until they can regain control. Hitting is assault. I don't believe in raising kids in violence.

I bet these 55-70 year old posters who abused their kids physically wonder why their kids give them a wide berth or are always busy on the holidays. You can raise kids without using physical assault, but you have to have a brain. How many here have brains?

You're making a lot of assumptions, such as we are cranky old child abusers. I didn't hit my kids, and I'm still in my 40s. Children do not learn to control themselves unless they are taught to, and too many parents today are unwilling to teach those skills. They're too busy listening to their own spines crumble while telling their children the world really does revolve around them.

I find that parents who get the most defensive about this subject are usually the ones with the limpest spines. Any parent who enjoys being an adult doormat to their children have that right but rest of us have the right to be free of all the troubles that causes.

No, if you look around, you will see the parenting advice of these old geezers,#1 being feel free to abort if you don't want to be bothered with kids. I hope these ingrates have kids who toss them in a raunchy old nursing home.
Narcissistic parents who neglect/abuse their kids or have nannies raise them so they don't have to be bothered don't deserve to have kids. JMO

So parents who expect their children to behave in public are also narcissistic child abusers?

Kids don't learn by physical violence, emotional abuse and other things i have seen posted about on here.

Kids are going to be kids. Let them be kids. Take them to restaurants designed for kids. It's silly when parents expect kids to be little miniature adult robots. I've never understood why moms try to shop with their kids, especially if they have a unruly brood.

I see you missed my point as well. I never advocated for beating the fk out of kids or emotional abuse, but there is a time and place to let kids be kids and a time and place to teach self-control, courtesy for others and proper behavior. When you're done letting your kids be kids all the time what will you be struck with? Adult sociopaths?

Ever see kids on a Leash??

Ya Know..Today's Mom's Just DON'T think about their children..WHAT stress they are placing upon them!!

KIDS aren't meant to SIT and be STILL..in a Grocery Cart..for OVER 20 minutes... THAT'S JUST WRONG!!

Why in my Day..MOTHERS took their children shopping..BUT the kiddies Walked ALONGSIDE of the cart..This way they were getting their EXERCISE.. NOT..Constantly.. Being TOLD.. to SIT STILL or ELSE!!!

Also.. Shopping trips were quicker.. WE Didn't' have ALL the Choices as the Moms of Today have..EVERYTHING w as made from scratch....SO endless moments deciding on WHAT Dessert to buy..in the Bakery, Frozen or Cookie Aisle..was NEVER a Dilemma!!

Thus, We were in and out..AND the kids Even had TIME to play outside before Dinner Time..

Chikdren's behavior stems from the Parent's Guidance, a Valuable learning Tool.

So BEFORE you Blame the Child..LOOK AT THE PARENT!!

Of course, no one wants to raise a CMA from Orlando FL. I have listened to so many stories from adults, breaking down and crying due to being abused physically, emotionally and other ways. I have heard the extreme hatred people have for parents who have been gone for years. The emotional scars are sometimes never healed. I have seen kids who were physically punished act out way more than those given a time out, sent to room, etc. You can encourage and praise kids, reward kids for their good behavior and realize that teens will be teens. All I'm saying is to have patience and to not let physical discipline be the first line of defense.

The grocery store can be a wonderful teaching tool. I have seen parents apologize because their kids are singing, dancing or being themselves in a grocery store. What's wrong with that? It's not church. And, yes, the second a kid gets home from school, he/she should be allowed to go play outside and get rid of the pent up energy from sitting in school. It's also good for sensory integration.

I don't know about this generation who just graduated. The kid seem to be really lost (some of them).

I am not a research assistant. This is merely for grins. I have yet to find ONE happy person here. I hope it's all basically the same person. I'd hate to think there are that many unhappy people in the world and they all found this board. Some whine that I'm not from Florida. They aren't either.
Strange collection of misfits.
