Connecticut lawmakers Wednesday approved raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour by 2017, the highest for any state in the country and the same rate that President Barack Obama wants for the federal minimum wage.

$10.10 an hour? What family can live on that? The cheap bastards. Get real, the minimum should be $25 an hour.

$25/hr? Why? So a Big Mac would be, minimum,$12? When you set an artificial minimum wage, all goods and services adjust to that artificial number, then a year, two years, five years down the road, everything will have reset so those making $25/hr are right back where they were when they were making $7.25/hr.

... just realized to whose comment I had replied. I laugh at me, Mr. Sarcasm. My reply, however, is still spot-on.

Government-run health insurance industry.... Never in America.

Triple a $7.25/hr wage artifically to $25/hr and you think a Big Mac price is not going to move commensurately?

Nevermind... I forgot you're using that new-fangled 'progressive' math.

Actually economists high and low have all said giving the lowest paid workers a living wage does not cause the kind of inflation you speak of. Its just another debunked, cop-out excuse by the 1% to milk and bilk more money out of the 99%. Their ultimate goal along with their GOP co-conspirators in Congress - is to put us ALL below the poverty line.
High and low, huh. Where's even one non-partisan link citing truth to your otherwise unsupported claims. You can't triple what it costs to serve a product and not expect inflation on the cost of the product. I'm not GOP, but I do understand math.

Excellent point, but the poor will make more money. It is a progressively brilliant plan to make the poor feel better, at least temporarily. After the 2016 elections, they can go back to being actually poor again.

So people will spend more money and that will increase demand-what a bad thing!

People will spend more money because prices of goods and services will increase commensurate with the wage increase. Your newfound wealth in the form of an artificial wage increase (not based on merit, that is) will be nearly instantaneously eradicated and you will be just as poor as the day before you got the raise. It's simple economics/mathematics. Learn it. Understand it. Live it.

How do you say "Ignorance is bliss?", because you really seem to be unaware of the incredible fool you are making of yourself. BTW, all those good "judge it" icons you give yourself don't count. Neither do the bad ones you gave to CC. Your problem is you have no concept of the fact that the rest of us here are at least as intelligent as you are but, from the looks of things that is something you are totally ignorant of.
