Gerald Miller: "I'm concerned with Vinton. We want it to be a better place," he said. "But this is a city issue. We don't contribute to their flooding; they don't contribute to our flooding."
Of course you do, and that's just their point, you dolt. The runoff that caused the damage in Vinton crossed hundreds of acres of city-owned land, upstream, gaining momentum. But since that land was uninhabited, there was no incentive for anyone at the city to think about its responsibilities with regard to flood control. Gerald Miller reminds of the guy who drilled a hole under his seat in a lifeboat, and when his neighbors complained, he brushed them off: "Hey, I'm only drilling under my own seat." Vote AGAINST the proposition, please! |
