la tuna federal prison camp

I took my kids to see their dad and we live in Philly. U visit Friday thru Monday. We stayed at the best western and the people was very nice. Things wasn't bad like people was making it out to be.

yes so far away i feel the same way you do and we went to go visit my son too and its not bad at all.com pare to other prisons.alot of people say its a bad place but you have to think they do have a low medium and high category. the bad prisons are the maximum ones.

My son is at FCI LaTuna and because of a mix up in paper work, he ended up in the actual prison. One point above going to the camp. Paperwork being sent to LaTuna but does anyone know how long that "transfer" will take place and is it possible that he will be sent to the camp only 110 miles from his home or still at LaTuna which is 660 miles from his home?

No matter what I am 2300 miles from him and if he gets to go back near his home and 9 yr old daughter, I am still 1700 miles from him. I just want him to be nearer to his daughter so that she can visit...the Mother is not so nice towards the whole problem be it phone calls, letters etc.

My understanding is that there is an actual minimum prison in Anthony with an adjacent camp and there is a seperate satellite low facility which is located 20 miles away in El Paso on an Army airfield called Fort Bliss. Does anyone have a loved one at the satellite low on the army base?

hi this goes out to all ppl going to la tuna camp.please b sure that u call early before leaving to let them know you are on the way and ask if that is the correct address. my husband was supposed to go to the camp n was told it wasnt there even with the correct address n he is going to be transferred to another camp nearby BUT for the meanwhile they have him there in the regular prison in the HOLE since he does not belong there and it might take 3 weeks for that to happen and with no phone calls and no sunlight. This really makes me mad cuz it shouldnt take that long and on top of that they gave him PINK boxers and PINK shirt. this is a prison for crying out loud not a whore house.

to yayalvztazz: i can understand where your coming from. my son was in the hole for 2 months .he only would call once a month he said it sucks being in there he said when he got out of there he looked like the man in the commercial "geigo" the caveman. not even funny but let me tell you something my friend all the system is corrupted.the feds are ass..... thats all i gotta say about them. once hes out of there he'll be o.k. i know its better said done done but good luck and god bless.

My boyfriend of 14 yrs is at La Tuna he got there in July 09 he lost a kidney and most of his intestines and almost a leg in a car accident back in 07 he is still healing in there trying to see a doctor to check on his kidney he uses a cane and cant sit or stand for long periods of time he tell us everything is ok in there as long as he dont disrespect his race or any other race in there He says they only show the hard core prisons on tv and it is not like how we see it or read about it. hi missing my pops my son is in the low camp and yes they have a drug program. and the visits are from friday, saturday, sunday and monday from 8- 3 my son is suppose to be in camp as well but he has a detainer on him so they moved him tothe low but its not bad its alright. i went to go visit him last month and everybody seems to be cool.hes taking care of that detainer as we speak and hopefull if it gets dropped he'll be moved back to camp . if you need more answers you can e-mail me at [e-mail] take care.

hi!! i understand how you are feeling with nobody answering the phone at this places and not knowing anything about your loved ones. i really dont know who you can talk to about this problem but thats what happened to my husband and he was there for a week and then got transfered to a military camp a few miles away from the prison. maybe that is whats gonna happen to yours and if it does my husband says it is a very good place and really likes it. it does have a fence and all but they are allowed to go outside and all. also he says that they have all type of game competitions and that they have a little more privacy cuz their restrooms are like at mcdonals and that they have shower curtains as well. well hope this is your case and they move him there and just keep insisting on those calls. go to www.bop.gov and try and locate him there on the inmate locater maybe that will help you.

Thank you for responding. The place at the military base is the satellite low which is where he belongs. I see from the bop website that he is registered to LaTuna, but in reality, there are 3 seperate prisons that make up La Tuna. The regular one, that he is in, the camp attached to that and then the satellie low at Fort?? in El Paso. I know he is supposed to be in the low but I don't know how to help him get there. How did your husband get transferred? Can you tell me what the real prison is like?

My husband is in the same situation. He was transferred from a camp for a bogus incident and was supposted to go to the low. Instead, like many others discussing their loved ones here, he was transferred to the regular prison. This is incorrect. I want to do what I can to help him get to the correct facility. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I heard that La Tuna can be bad if someone is a gang member but that is all I have ever heard about it. Just be thankful your loved ones are not in Pecos at Reeves County Detention Center. My husband is there...he was sent there 2 years ago from Big Springs and the conditions there are horrible. They rioted last December after the 2nd inmate died from no medical care. My husband actually pleaded guity to participating in the riot just to get transferred. He just got sent back there after being told by the Judge he would not be. A judge of course from Pecos. he is hopeful that he will be transferred out soon...and of course they don't get any phone calls. Horrible! My sons cry all the time and want to talk to their dad.

hi!yea there are several camps and they dont show which is which or nothing at all just that its in la tuna. my husband got transferred to the military camp in fort cuz thats where we was supposed to be sent in the first place but the letter he got had that address from the prison so they had him in the hole 4 a week since he wasnt supposed to be there, and i really wouldnt know how you can make them move him. you can call the prison and tell them that you want to talk to his counselor and that you want his name and number. at least you will have another number to call and check with someone else. the inmates that are in any camp and dont obey the rules or get into fights or things like that they are automatically sent to the prison for disobeying the rules. it sucks i know but its just how it is.

I have many questions but really are not pertinenant to taking up this space. If there is already one could someone diect me to me?
