Some people have seen this creature in various areas of the U.S. This year, some main-stream scientists are starting to search for Big Foot, Sasquatch, Yeti, etc. after years of regarding it as a fringe phenomenon. Some people are unaware that indigenous peoples across the globe have had encounters with this creature going back to near pre-historic times. So it isn't a recent thing. The nearest incident of a Big Foot sighting around here is around Eldon. A Big Foot research group came from southeast Oklahoma to Tahlequah to check into it about 3 years ago, but nothing resulted that was ever publicized. Is it real? Who knows for sure? But many Native American tribes have oral traditions going into ancient times about their encounters with "the man of the woods." So far, no one has captured one.

Hey, there's a website in Oklahoma as a good resource for Bigfoot topics. It's oklahomabigfoot.org and it has several links to other sites and BigFoot research organizations that have loads of info and investigations. The subject still gives me the creeps knowing that it's history goes back thousands of years & the creature (or varieties of it) are on many parts of our globe. As a Cherokee Indian, I've read some of the stories within the tribe going back hundreds of years and into the southeastern region of the U.S.(before our Removal over the Trail of Tears). I believe there is a Bigfoot Festival held at Hobia (or Hobio), Oklahoma (Pushmataha County). I guess this just skims the surface of the Bigfoot subject.

Yep, I think Sasquatch is real. Three years ago I visited a college buddy who originated from a small Oregon town in the Cascade Mountains. He's also Native American & lived near an Indian village up in the foothills of the Cascades. We got to camp out in the forests a while. We heard something that had a terrifying yell-bellow that local Indians say is the Sasquatch warning yell. We never saw it. But my friend introduced me to some local white guys who saw something like the Sasquatch in 1971 and again in 1994.

As a Cherokee, I've heard a lot of stories passed down from the elders about Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or "the man of the woods." Most Cherokees believe it is real, but then most haven't seen the creature. Cherokee relatives still livingg in original Cherokee homelands of the Great Smoky Mtns. & Blue Ridge Mtns. tell us they see a creature they call Bigfoot now from time to time. I've heard that the ancient Cherokee accounts of the creature do back thousands of years. I heard there was a sighting around Eldon a few years ago that was investigated by some Bigfoot society.

As for a local Bigfoot creature working at the Police Dept., anything is possible. Right? HAHAHA

Most native Americans have seen this creature. I'm not sure why, but more often than not, they tend to see it right after a long pull on the peace pipe.

This man speaks with authority. Of course he has never seen a tri pacer or a big foot, so he says there are no such beings. So there is a dividing line: those who have seen, attest to such, those who have not, deny such. Much like saying, I have not seen that the earth is round, therefore it must be flat. His wisdom is as the wind: fleeting.

Wow! So much home-spun wisdom wafting in the air! Much like over-ripe flatulance. One can say they don't believe Sasquatch is real because they've never seen one. Some folks have never seen the North Pole either. But that doesn't mean it isn't real. Now, Obama's birth certificate....that's another matter!
