My name is Jay Garrett and my interest in this case is as follows: Last Friday on the tenth of March my son, who recently moved into the trailer park, was walking two of his children in the park. Mr. Pratt was driving recklessly and almost struck several children including my grandchildren. Another child in the crowd, a 14-year old made an obscene gesture, with that Mr pratt stopped the car and was approaching the child in a manner in which my son felt was threatening. He intervened, getting between the child and Mr. Pratt, telling pratt to go sleep it off. At that point mr pratt then assaulted my son, punching him, he was so drunk that my son attempted to hold him at which time mr pratts adult son came from behing him and knocked him out causing the left side of his face to swell. This was in front of not only my grandchildren, who were terrorized, but also in front of several neighborhood children. A police report was made and an attempt was made to find mr pratt to arrest him for battery. He was not found. However, our son is persuing and arrest charge through the states attorneys office. We believe that this is the first altercation that the article talks about. Hum, where's Duprey?
The following sunday, my wife and I went to see how our son, Ken Dittmar, was doing. Our younger son happened to be doing the same thing, checking on his brother. Friends and family of mr pratt were across the street and words were exchanged regarding the first incident. As you can imagine, we are about to go into the second incident. Several minutes later, pratts adult son came up and was yelling towards our sons house. He was making challenges and calling out my son Ken. When an attempt was made to straightening out the problem, a fist fight broke out between my younger son and pratts adult son. The police were called, both young men were arrested and the second incident was over.
My question is, was pratt under the impression that my son, Ken, was the child molester. Since they apparently moved in the park at approximately the same time, it might be a logically conclusion except for the fact that my son has three children living with him. If that was the case I can understand. But surely, by the second incident, a identification error had to have been straightened out. This is just a simple case of two familys acting on inpulse without really knowning the facts.
The fact that Mr. Pratt wanted to originally just identify a child molester living in the park is highly commendable for every child's safety, but attacking without knowing all of the facts is questionable.

unfortunately, things like this happen because people only go with what they THINK happens not by what really happens. The true victims here are the children that had to be part of this. I will keep your son and his family in my prayers...

The registered sex offender is now 29. The original crime took place in 1998, when he was a teen ager. Lots of teenagers have teenage girlfriends, and even 12 and 13 year old girls are out giving it away. But if she gets pissed, or her parents don't like the guy, then her plaything becomes a criminal. He violated probation in 2000, but the violation could have been anything, such as a dirty drug drop, a traffic violation, etc. Anyway, I am not trying to make the registered sex offender out to be a good guy. No way. I just happen to know of a few people who are registered sex offenders, and are not what we typically think of as child molesters. Being a registered sex offender, even if you are found guilty of having sex at 17 with a 15 year old, this stigma stays with you for life.
