Very helpful and compassionate. Lots of good ideas that helped make a sad occasion into a celebration of a life well lived. I would recommend them to others.

How interesting is that! I happen to look up Collins Funeral Home because I was at the set of lights and noticed two guys pushing a coffin from the garage to the back of the building last week. It totally makes sense, as I stumbled upon this posting.(I was curious about what I saw at the lights, so I googled Collins and found this site!)
I don't really think it's dignified to push a dead person through a parking lot. I thought it was weird.

I'm confused by Collins Funeral Home web site.
They boast on their cremation page how they utilize a prestigious crematory in Fairfield County and not a 'basement unit'.
The only funeral home that falls into this category would be Cognetta in Stamford, which has a basement unit.
I'm assuming the message Collins is trying to get across, is the fact that placing someone in a basement isn't dignified, or?
All the meanwhile, Collins Funeral Home's morgue is located in their basement and all of the deceased the care for are housed in the basement. Their embalming room is located in the basement as well.
Additionally, they have no lift within the property to bring the bodies upstairs, therefore, they must wheel a body in the casket outside, where everyone can see and bring the body in the back entrance.
So in conclusion, Collins Funeral Home shouldn't throw stones with a crematory located in a basement of a funeral home. If anything, only a portion of the dead they care for go in the basement, as the remainder stays upstairs where the embalming room is.
EVERY single body at Collins is sent to the basement.
Keeping it real.
