Full story: Greenwich Time

The recent opinion piece by Sean Goldrick is exactly on point. Greenwich Schools, now and over many years, have underperformed compared to their peer group.

The real problem is teaching too much about "diversity" and making everyone feel good. Stop focusing on the achievement gap junk. Start learning about solving problems and producing tangible results, like the real world these students will face some day.

That's the problem: we have an achievement gap between the great majority of students in Greenwich and their peers in other suburban communities in the region. Our students as a whole are underperforming. It's time to stop blaming minorities, who comprise a small percentage of all students in Greenwich, for the failure of the educators and board of education to set high standards and demand that the schools meet them.

Nick N is ignorant. Grow up and learn something before you bloviate about ridiculous garbage like blaming minorities when they are 3% of the student body. When you get out of your pyjamas at your mothers house, read something for a change. It might hurt your ears a little bit, but it'll do you good.

Where in my post do I blame minorities? Please read it again, I put the blame on where the schools waste their resources. I think you might want to read a little more and work on your comprehension. Greenwich schools do not have a minority population of 3%, it's closer to 25%; check your facts(or maybe it's the comprehension thing again).

Worst post of the last month or so.

Throwing around insults, incorrect data and idiotic assumptions.

At least you're interested in education as a topic, so maybe you're trying to correct yourself...

Well, we have a president, a probable new Supreme Court justice, a new Surgeon General, countless Jewish and gay CEO's to prove that "minorities" (whatever the word means) can be just as or more well educated than Anglos. I read awhile badk about a bombed-out moonscape in the Bronx in which parents got together and made sure the local P.S. was rigorous and disciplined about education; a few of the black students eventually made it to Ivy League schools. It does NOT take a lot of money; it takes unity of purpose and persistence among the local community to keep a constant watch on its local schools and programs. I can attest that in the SoCal area, the wealthiest community college does not do nearly as well as the poorest community college in turning out skilled and tranferable graduates. It's all community priorities.

The fact that those people obtained those positions tells you they are well educated?

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Scorpio

If you're feeling brave enough, you should get out all your receipts`, and then tot up how much you've spent this month. Or don't you have the courage to do so? It will be far better to know the truth than to pretend that everything's all right. But don't let it spoil what promises to be a delightfully enjoyable and rather emotional day.
