Company will probably try to staff the stores with scabs if the union strikes. With all the unemployment that would be easy to do. Union should stay on the job, they can best hurt the company from inside not from the sidewalk with signage. Good point about the PR that the company should do right for the employees that are their neighbors and customers also.

a&p is just greedy. do not break the unions. workers need the support from the neighbors and let work together for all. times are tight. let them cut from the top.

The Local cites contracts signed in 2007 and 2008 as being the models for the A&P contract.

Things changed last fall. We are in one of the worst recessions of the last hundred years, and it looks like we still havn't hit bottom.

If you are negotiating a contract when times are good, your demands should be high. But, your current demands will only drive up prices and make A&P less competitive, when more than ever, your customers are "shopping around" for the best deals.

We have lots of choices on where to buy.

Go ahead with your job actions. I doubt you will get any sympathy from the vast majority of your customers. And, you will end up putting some of your members out of work.

And cooperate greed is what? Saving America? If there is that much money at the top, should we not share the wealth and provide a decent wage and benefits? Or should we keep putting it in the pockets of a few?

Nice try but you simply are pointing away from UNION abuse. There is need for reform and common sense in GOVT especially - all levels - FED/STATE/LOCAL - taxes are out of control, Corporate - yes - and UNIONS too. So what is your comment on UNIONS specifacally??? Mine is is many way they are as bad as the corporate monsters that spawned them and as such they are not in the interst of the common folk - we end up paying for benifits - high pay - and BS griviences - UNIONS need reform.

If they strike, then fire them all. Every last one of them. Just like Reagan did to to the air traffic controllers. There are plenty of people out there who haven't seen a paycheck or benefits for months and would be thrilled to work for the company offer. And if the union wants to scream "union shop," then let's have a new election. After all, Obama is all about more union elections. Let's see how many of the new workers who have gone from dispare to decent jobs are willing to vote in a union that will just take dues for the union fat cats and put them out of work again.

Let them go on strike. We all know the critical it is to have someone stock pickles on a shelf. The cashiers are already being replaced by robots at other stores. Cut out the Union dues and everyone benefits except for the Union fat cats.

You Rush ditto heads are amazing, just like Fox news you blame the unions for everything. Pop quiz, who got us in the mess we are in today? Wall street and corporate greed, the same people we had to bail out and then watch them give themselves bonuses. The same people who live in Greenwich in million dollar homes and cry foul when a working man making $12 an hour at A&P demands a fair living wage.

Get a life, the conservative movement died.

"You Rush ditto heads are amazing, just like Fox news you blame the unions for everything."

If your union keeps your company uncompetitive and helps put your company out of business, then they should take accountibility for it. The word for those who support parasitic unions regardless of how much they hurt their company is "stooge". Are you a stooge?

"The same people we had to bail out and then watch them give themselves bonuses."

No, it was Obama who made sure they got their bonuses, as a kickback for Democratic election fund donations, with the help of Chris Dodd.

"The same people who live in Greenwich in million dollar homes."

You're describing Chris Dodd again, as well as the folks who run these unions.

When you come screaming about greedy faceless enemies, is it really Rush and the conservatives you should be pointing to.... or the people that you yourself have been supporting blindly for years?

Am i missing the point here or what, I bet all you anti-union people all shop at Walmart as well, and do you know how walmart came to be as large as it is now, by paying people crap wages and no medical for part timers and discriminating against women and on and on - is that what you want for your country, is that where you want to work, the only reason we are in the mess we are now is because of greedy rich fat cats, who just want more and more and want all the labor cheap, dont want to pay fair wage and dont want to give anything that will cost them, oh and by the way union people are not the only ones getting the shaft here, plenty of americans who are non-union are getting it to, and lets not forget Enron, hmmm what happened there to all those hard working people who saved all their lives to have greedy execs take it all away. Lets not forget that teachers, firemen, police, hospitals auto workers, miners, dock people, town people and many many more all have unions, the only thing you see unions doing to wreck this country is to get fair wages and health and pension for people, but the wealthy can do no wrong hey, you better get back to school or open your eyes beyond sports and your ego's, because if we had no unions to date your life would be alot worse now, more than you can even imagine.
