Judy wrote: <quoted text> The ADA does not require the handicap parking symbol to be painted on the asphalt. Just got back. Looked closty at Dairy Queen parking lot saw no handycap parking signs or blue any place on lot. So to me are they saying handcap pepole are un welcom or what. Across the street does not cut it. If the owners live in Salem are they a part of that bunch of the post office, no handycap parking. Or no wheel ramp for the handy cap??

This handycap thing goes back to the 1950's with me. I knew Tom Egner ( miss spelled his name ) he owned Pearl buck bearth place home in Hillsburr WV. A farmer with mess up legs from World war 2. Not a rich man. He got a handycap law passed in Charleston while serveing in the legerstave. This might have been the first law in WV.

It has nothing to do with City government.

You can't pull your car into that Post Office without shredding your tires on the deteriorated curb. I just pull'er up on the sidewalk easy on the tires. Is the Postal service in that bad of shape financially?

You know what would be a great gesture would be if the City started a campaign to replace all the Handicapped markings that have vanished or were not painted in front of the business in Salem. I saw the city workers painting the signs in main street down town this fall are we blind or mentally handicaped ?

Talking about signs all over the town, many business's do not even comply with the ADA,no signs at all. Sign across from DQ not enforced must be for personal use of the Medicaid business owner to park her Jag in when she visits Salem,I don't know. I'll go around town a make a list for you ASAP.
