I have taken pictures of this infraction,if anyone gets a ticket I have a video showing cars parking there and the PD just drives on by. The precedent here that the PD is establishing is that they look the other way when it comes to enforcing that handicap parking law. If he goes inside that establishment and just gives them a warning the girl at the front desk will let me know. Just because they own that business doesn't mean they can break the law. That's a law enforcement issues. You need to take you concerns to the PD and talk to them about it. It is not the CM's reponsibility to spend time on things like that, except to the extent it would afeect the CM's of the PD employees.

I don't think so. Been there done that, two years ago not going to go through that process again, just remember if you get a ticket for parking in a handicap zone I got the Modus operende video of the PD.(just keep on cruising by)

I was trying to figure out what you were talking about. I had to go by there today so I looked for the handicapped spot. I finally figured out where it was, but it is very poorly marked. I only saw the curb painted blue. There is no sign. There is no handicapped symbol on the ground that I could see. My question is: 1. What business/home is this designated handicapped for? Is it for the home nursing agency? Was it for Dr. Hissem's back in the day? 2. Is it still considered a handicapped spot? Maybe it isn't technically a handicapped spot anymore and needs the curb painted over?

Can't call them a nursing agency. She has several homes in and around Salem that she uses for tax write offs. A million dollar home in Deep Creek ,MD where she lives. Several expensive cars. People like that are why we pay through the nose for Medicare and Medicaid.

No sign, dull color paint,no symbol on the ground. Thought it was for a business that closed years ago. They are required by ADA law to have a handicap spot there. Paint over it go ahead.

I guess the owner of the business is pretty shrewd, they have a Handicap spot as provided by ADA and they can use it without a placard because they tell the cops it's sort of not official it's dull, has no sign and no emblem on the road. but still it's an unofficial handicap spot..And Barney Fife buys that as an excuse. Snookered again. Even Opie could see through that excuse.

You people are unbeliveable. You try to find something just anything to gripe about and then you just start hammering away. First it's the water then the City Manager, then it's the salem police which I might add are doing a fantastic job as I see it.Now its the handicaped parking spots. Maybe some of you that are doing all the complaining are more qualified to run the city and do all the jobs that need to be done. You all need to get a job or a life, one or the other. I'm not sure which.

Tsk, Tsk, shame on ya, laddie, for thinking that politics or anything else had anything ta do with it. Merely implementation of a business plan. When you see the superhighway from Kabul all the way to Haifa, then you will understand.
