What is the emergency? Why can't the projects and bonds - and accompanying rate increases - wait until the economy is turning around? While the city is full of people losing their jobs and trying not to lose their homes, it is imperative that the city stop spending money on projects that can be delayed!

What a screwed up city! Higher water prices and the officers have to buy their own weapons. I am glad that I do not live there!

Wow, not enough empty homes in your city? How much will the rate hike be when even more people move out of your poorly managed cities?

Local governments down here are a joke, particularly in Broward as of late, think twice next time you vote!

What was Sunrise doing with all the money that was flowing into its coffers when times were good and everyone was employed and property values were sky high? Why weren't the city leaders addressing this so-called emergency repair back then? What a crock!

Hey, they can't afford to dig up the median strips and plant bricks, give the politicos raises, and maintain the water system all at the same time.

It's not the cost of the water, it's all the fees associated with your water bill that is the burden. There is no water shortage, that's BS and propaganda to get us primed for these increases. The government sees water as a cash cow.

What they should do is phase in the increases, they had one last year. You can't wait until an emergency, then hit any residnts for a 40% increase for any service, the residents are getting hit from all sides, taxes, local and state will be our downfall, and wait until the school board and county commission take their pound of flesh, WATCH OUT!!!

Looking at what comes out of Sunrise, I don't think raising the rates will help because they smell like they are not aware of soap and water.

The City of Sunrise citzens have spoken on March 10, the citzens of Sunrise reelected the present city commission,so therefore I believe we should give the commission a chance, they earned their raise retroactive from 2008,there is no doubt that what they do is the wish of the citzens of the city, even yesterday wasnt that smart of the commission to have all that additional firepower, save the citzens the cost of the guns and have the cops pay out of there pockets, they get to keep the firearms after they finish and at a reduced cost to them, during these bad times it is great to know the firearms will be out of there to protect us and it did not cost us one dime, great work commissioners, this is a win,win all around

yes...I agree with you! The commissioners do work hard and deserve the pay they receive. Go Roger, Don, Sheila, Larry and Joey!!! You are doing a great job!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
