BSO deputy shoots dog in Weston

A Broward County sheriff's deputy shot a dog in Weston shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday after it allegedly lunged at her, according to police reports.

I also side with the dog owner. Cop had no business in the back yard, should have gone to the front door first to see if the owners were at home. This all of this could have been avoided. If someone shot my dog (and she does go unleashed in my backyard and it is not fenced, and she will bark at people, but she would never bite anyone), I would be devastated.

The deputy shot twice but the dog wasn't killed? How is she qualified to carry a weapon? If it had been an armed criminal instead of an 11-year old family pet we would have yet another dead cop.

This woman was most likley undersize, therefore she was in fear for her safety. Dalmations are not large dogs, so my guess is that her only instinct was to shoot with deadly force. Being a dog lover, I side with the homeowner. Hopefully they get a big settlement. Yet they do live in Weston, home on the modern HOA-nazi's, that maybe the reason why the neighbor called BSO.

every cop knows that cops avoid dogs like the plague. the owner is going to give her biased side of the story obviously. i hope the cop knocked at the front door and then after no answer, proceeded to the rear where the dog attacked

I am sorry for the families of the dead officers, but this group should be disbanded just like the Dade Sheriff's Office finally had to be and just start over.
