Check your bank accounts if you wrote a check for the Little League fees during sign ups in February!! They just now took the money out of our bank account over 3 MONTHS later! Since this has now costed me $175 in overdraft fees due to not expecting the extra check to come out, I hope I can help someone else avoid this by warning everyone.

LLparent I am very sorry for this happening to you. It is wrong and that is the bottom line. I guess I will get run down again for telling the truth, but nothing surprises me. Until those membership cards are done away with it will be one thing after another like it always is with this league. But honestly how do we expect someone to take care of the league money correctly, when they and I am not talking about all of them, but a couple can't support their kids with a job, rather than the government. I have always felt that a person needs to be finacially stable before being put over a organization and handleing money.

If you wrote the check down on your ledger and deducted it at that time and keep your checkbook balanced there should be no reason to blame someone else for your error. Because then no matter when the check was "turned in" it would already be deducted and balance out. True? I'm sorry not trying to be rude but I was just thinking logically. If it's already deducted and your not spending beyond your means the money should still be there no matter what!

Apparently Marty Cothron since you started out a board member then you must be one of the people that can't take care of your kids like Ricky Cline said. Why do you say "extra money"? No extra money was taken out of your account. Just the money for the check you wrote which should have already been deducted from your balance in your ledger. Therefore the overdraft fees you incurred were because of a mistake on your behalf and no one else's. Besides if you were charged $175 in overdraft fees for one check clearing the bank then aparently you wrote several checks without the money in the bank to cover them. I thought this was against the law. And with you being a police officer I would think you know better.

I agree with truth hurts and LL Parents. If you wrote a check for $40 or $80 for ur child or children to play ball than there is no way it cost u $175 in bank fee unless u where already in overdraft. I mean I dont work at a bank but I,m smart enough to know better than that. And I dont know any different between been a board member and a parent that paid for their kids but my check was turned in 4 months ago.But I can say this when I was signing my kids up I did over hear some people asking the LL to hold their checks. And I thank that was very nice in the LL to do that!!And as far as those membership cards go I thank that was a great idea because u have to get a voter card to vote so why would u not thank it was a good idea to have a membership card to vote what is it to pay a dollar. Why cant everyone leave the LL alone. there is so much more going on in Westmoreland to worry about beside the LL.

Will to start with I said nothing about Marty Cothron. He is a very good friend of mine. I was not refurring to people on the board or people that work. WORK. I think most people know who I am talking about so please don't put words in my mouth. As far as the membership cards go, I think they are a good thing for the people that don't want to be voted out, and want to keep control. At the last board election, if I remember right, the question was ask about 4 or 5 times. Has everyone on the list been contacted. The answer was yes. I came home and called 5 people that were not there, and sorry but they had no clue what I was talking about. Right or wrong you tell me. As for words of wisdom Westmoreland Sparks, ask if all the leaders of the LL payed for their kids to play like all others had to. Do they pay for all they eat at the field like others do. Mine did.

And by the way, was just wondering. We had some people that were so was told, not in good standing with the league last year for one reason or the other. But we had a member of our league be escorted from the park in Hartsville at all-star, but they are still in good standings and the others are not. Wish somebody would explain that one. I am not against LL. I think it is a good thing for the kids. Where did the kids go in all this, it is for them.

I have to say this as for Marty. It is no one's business what his finances are. But I bet if he was getting a check each mouth to help keep his kids up he would feel very well. But knowing him as I do, he works for a living and puts proud in his work. We need more people like Marty involve with the kids. I want to think Marty myself for what he does with our kids. Thanks for your time and love for the kids of this town.

I am a grandparent of several kids that have been raised in the Westmoreland Little League and over the years we have watch several things. There used to be people that cared over the ball program. When people like Bobby Bell, William Perry, Ricky Cline and others just to name a few were involved in the "politics" of it things ran better and the parks were better. The in-fields have almost as much grass as the outfield does now and we won't even talk about the bathrooms. I don't know a lot of the younger coaches now but most of them seem to have the same spark for the kids as the older ones did. Bickering should stop among the adults and focus on the kids. This should be fun for them! In reference to the topic at hand, no one should be faulted for a mistake that happened no matter who's fault it is. Everyone is human no matter the job title. When it comes to handling funds, Little League should keep their own slate clean before talking about anyone elses. Bring Little League back to where it used to be, for the families...not the politics!

I agree with u on bring the LL back where it use to be but they dont have the coaches that really care about the field or anything else. All they want to do is coach they dont want to get the fields ready or even work on them.So its a little hard to get everything done when u only have a few people that will help do things. And the bathroom r clean before the games because I have seen the LL president cleaning lots of times and where do u thank the coaches are do u really thank one person can do it all!! I really dont care if some of the board member work it none of anybody business if their husband or boufriend or whatever they have dont want them to work why are u downing them (westmoreland ricky)?

I just wanted to let u know yes the board member did pay for their kids and if u want to see my cancel check u may. And as far as us eating for free. Some of us may when we are the ones that have to do all the cleaning and getting the food ready for the game night and we have to be the ones that shut the consession stand down I mean lord for bit for us to eat $2 dollars worth of food for 3 hours or more of work. Im really tired of all the crip that people or saying about the board member because I work for a living and have since I was 16. But if my husband had a better jobs and I could stay home I would than u could talk about 3 board member not having a job!!!

I just wanted to let everybody know that I worked the consession stand the night that our team had it.And yes I did see the president come in and get drinks but it was in between games that she had to be on the field calling. And she is not the only one that got free drinks all the umpires got free drinks and I was told by her and some other board member that if i wanted anything to eat or drink while I was working it that I could get it for free. So dont be pointing finger at them they work hard and do a good job at it!!!! And Im sure all the president in the past got a drink or something to eat and didnt pay for it. So why is she and the board member the only one that getting mouthing about it? And by the way I found out by a good sorce that the LL has been turning in bank statement since Jan of 09. I mean I dont know much about all this but the board seem to be doing a pretty good job with what they have to work with. And at any giving time you want to help to make it better go find one of them and talk with them and see what you can do to help out! Im sure they would love the help!!!!!!

It's amazing to me that individuals don't mind showing off their ignorance or illiteracy on this forum!!

Number one thing is, I was not the one that started all this. As for pointing fingers, look back at the other forum. I was the one who was called everything in the book, not the board members. I think last year there was some awesome members that did a lot of. I went out there to help and was told we don't need your help by our president. As far as ever eating or dranking anything when I worked that I did not pay for, I never did then and will not ever. As for bank statement for 09, yes they were turned in, but 08 was the one in question if I remember right. And it seems funny that people that don't live here come in and tell us how ignorance and illiteracy we are when they don't pay a dime in tax dollars to pay for the lights that are being used. But all I hear from those persons is how bad our fields are and that the city will not fix them. I may not saying anything about people that have a job and work and do the league because they want to. That is great that they do. But I am not going to set back and let people run me or my town down when they don't put anything into it. I feel there is a lot of others that feel the same way, they just don't say it. If you want me to stop, do what I ask to start with, get my name off here or put your on. Not to much to ask. For exmple call the guy that use to make the pictures and see how he feels.

I agree with Bliss. The adults of this town are doing nothing but embarrassing themselves while trying to ridicule others. People talk about the youth, but look at the adults. As a young college student that has grown up in this town, instances like this make me long to be somewhere else. Residents of Westmoreland should stop their nonsense. People want to quote Bible verses, then talk down about someone. That's hypocritical my friends. There's a verse for that, you know. Anyways, how about concentrating on things that really matter? For example, our children, business, finances of the town, and attractions. At this rate, Westmoreland is going to shrivel up to nothing. As far as the little league, just step up, get the job done, and stop bickering like drama queens. Goodness, shouldn't take a 20 year old to realize this mess. If acting like an adult is modeled by adults in this town right now, I prefer to live in my parents' basement till I'm 35.

Amazed you are exactly right. I have will say to you, I am sorry for my part in some of this mess. All I have ever wanted was for this kids to be treated in the right way. I want to see them be able to set in town like I use to. I want to see our town grow in businesses. I want to see our young people have things like other towns have to do. A bowling alley would be nice, a theater and other things that we as adults as will as young people could enjoy. I would like to see the young people have a chance to have a hand in the way the city is run. I love all you kids and will always stand up for you no matter what. I understand that by doing that I pay a big price, I get run down for doing it. It is worth it to me because you young people are worth that much to me. Again I am sorry and hope you can forgive me for acting silly or not backing off on somethings. But I do it for you guys to have more than I had when I was growing up here. Love all you young people.

Ricky, I believe you have honest, good intentions. What I wrote is a feeling that I feel deep inside. I will stand behind anyone that I think has good intentions. No one has to blab out my name, for I will tell...I'm Ethan Dorris. My family is well-known, and I have been raised well. I feel that things would get done a lot quicker if people would just work together. But, I guess that's too much to ask for these days.

I think you have it all together Amazed. I want to see this town raise up and be a good town. One that all people working together can get things done. But until we get away from the good ole boy thing, we will never get anything done. We need to get away from somebody making money for a project and the community doing it together for nothing. We will not be that town I would like to see. I want to see our young people involed in some of the discision making in this town. I know you are frustrated with things as they are. I am also. I want to see this community join together and do something with a price tag put on it. Until that happens this town will not change. I feel for all you young people and know how you feel. I went through it when I was you age and felt the same way.
