A 36-year-old man was shot dead in his third-floor Westmont apartment Tuesday afternoon.

The Ponds is a known drug dealing, gang area, NOT the place you want to live! Westmont Police just did a good job of cleaning the park up (across 67th by the nice town homes) and now this junk. Well, when you have a LARGE portion of this junky apartments rented out to section 8, you are going to have a lot of problems. I feel bad for people trying to sell townhomes at Orchard Gate.(especially the ones who face the Ponds). They are most likely not having as much luck because of where they are located. The Ponds is the dark ghetto of Westmont!

I saw all of the police cars on Cass/67th/Clarendon Hills cemetary Tuesday. I also saw 2 Oak Brook cop cars. They were handcuffing a black man on Cass Ave. What is the story about him? Was he the shooter?

Racist, no. Rude, no. Sick of paying for welfare, yes. Sick of what the suburbs are becoming since Daley started send all the Sec 8 out here, yes.
I pay A LOT of money to live where I live, with that I expect to have a peaceful place to live. I expect to be able to walk my street with my family , and not have to worry about such a crime happening in my neighborhood.
I think that having a housing complex like the Ponds, in an unnecessary burden on the community. More that anything, I feel bad for the police and firefighters that have to respond and clean up after such stupidity.
I say, Mayor Rahn, get rid of Section 8 in this town. Bring it back to the sleepy blue collar town that it used to be.

My prayers are with the young man's family that lost his life. Doesn't matter where you live or how much you pay to live where you live all GOD's children should be able to walk down the street with their family and not have to worry about crime. But in the world we live in that is not the case no matter where we are. All people on section 8 are not criminal minded people just as anyone who pays alot to live where they live are not always law abidding citizens. No one can judge another leave that to GOD. I pay a lot to live where I live also but I don't judge those who get assistance and are trying to better the lives of their families because some people choose to do wrong. Read the police doings in our area David and you will see that crimes committed are not always by those on section 8 you might be surprised to find some of our neighbors listed there as I have. Just to inform you, he didnt utlize section 8, he actually just move out to that area. See thats the problem with ignorant a$$ white people such as yourself, you think because you pay a great deal of money for where u live your suppose to be above everyone. Well news flash, rather it be Westmont or beverly hills or the city of compton, this can happen to anyone! I am gonna pray for you, because if this happened to your son or brother or father you woouldnt want anyone judging them. and FYI if you made REAL money you wouldnt be staying in Westmont. The cost of living in that area is not high, and honestly it cost more to live in the city than it does there. So while you are singing about how much money you make and pay to live there, if its that bad move to downtown chicago i am sure something "like this as you say" won't happen down there...or will it....you be easy sir and keep god first, keep this in mind, don't judge others because the blessings god has given you can and will be taken away, and when you die you can't take Westmont nor the "expensive" house your paying for with you....be easy

Someone has lost a father, a brother, a uncle, a cousin etc etc and there is no room for the nonsense. God will very well handle situations like this in all aspects.
