This group promotes themselves and peddles their products as ORGANIC. Please remember this when you visit the local farmers markets. I have noticed they haven't been present at the Townshend Farmers Market this year, which is wise as nobody would accept them now. Are they still allowed at other local markets? What about their bakery? Who would want these products after the crops and land are covered with toxic burned waste? They not only polluted their own property, rendering it NON-ORGANIC, but polluted the air of all of their neighbors for miles around. What a thoughtful group!

Another problem with the Twelve Tribes is that they apparently have difficulty fulfilling their commitments.

They purchased the site of Oona's with plans to redevelop it. They never did, and eventually the building had deteriorated to such an extent it had to be demolished.

This same group purchased the former Common Ground restaurant in Brattleboro, again with plans to redevelop it. A year later nothing has happened. I hope this building doesn't suffer the same fate as Oona's.

Cliff, the group is selling their products at the Brattleboro Farmers Market. Just bakery goods, I think.

That fine cap of $170,000 is a pittance and totally insufficient. That kind of money is nothing to a business or corporate entity and INVITES abuses and environmental negligence.

That fine cap is as insufficient as 7 million for deep well drilling environmental impacts.

Get real Vermont - that cap is an invitation for rich corporations to do whatever they want.

Toughen it up. And 170,000 should be a minimum for this offense. Plastic? Babies and children's lungs? Why not just go downtown and shoot everyone instead.

If they are selling in Bratt then likely they are in BF as well and perhaps elsewhere. I feel it is our duty as responsible members of our communities to protest them. Protest to the operators of the markets as well as directly to the vendors from 12 Tribes. The grain (Spelt) is grown on the Basin farm and has been contaminated, how could it not be? It certainly no longer has the right to carry the "organic" status.

The story on the police car just soured a little it seems that great price of EIGHT THOUSAND WITH THE RADIOS AND LIGHTS was not such a good deal, the police car was at J&M auto in Bellows Falls and ran up a bill of $900.00 for repairs and this great buy needed new tires that Cheever tire sold to the police

Go on the state website the exact same police cars sells for three thousand dollars.

Talk about the blind leading the blind, than you trustees and CHIEF LAKE.

Be sure to ask Chief Lake about complaints filed on the Oonas demolition that he and Weston just turned their backs on. The town wanted that sucker down at all costs

Wow. These arrogant puritans who strut around with their dreadlocks and bare feet, snubbing their nose at anyone who doesn't groove to an acoustic guitar - thinking up trendy names such as "Oona's" and "Common whatever....are now proof positive of being just as bad as anyone else who pollutes the earth. Who burns refrigerants, motors, paint, chemicals etc etc in todays and age?! I mean really!? Filthy hypocrites; I'll never support this farm again.

Don't God's laws not override man's laws? True religion leads to every sort of law breaking. Ask Jesus.

The Tribes practice a variant of fundamentalist Christianity. Should we crucify them? So far everyone commenting here seems to believe we should.

Talk about crucifixion, I recall a bad accident in the 70s on rt. 121 that prompted street lights being put in. I believe the same thing happened on rt.103 as well. For a savings of 35 cents per night per intersection, Ghia and his commission, as well as the board of selectmen WILL HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS. History will repeat itself.

At least the Twelve Tribes don't commit moral pollution, which is worse. I support the Twelve Tribes, even though I am not one of them. Windham County needs to support better values, and I hope more Bible people move in soon.

Doesn't violating the law count as moral pollution?

So, the darkness and horror of the Biblical New and Old Testaments. Which most Christian folks either ignore, excuse, or don't know about, isn't 'moral pollution'?

Here:

Who You Should Kill

--Unruly or rebellious child. Deut 21:20-21
--Those who curse or hit their parents. Lev 20:9, Ex 21:15
--Worshipers of other gods. Deut 13:6-11
--Psychics, witches. Lev 20:27, Deut 13:6-11, Ex 22:18.
--Those who do not believe in Jesus (parable). Luke 19:27.
--Those who work on the Sabbath. Ex 35:2
--Moses kills a gentile for this. Num 15:32-36.
--Those who are accused by at least two people of wickedness. Deut 17:6.--The children and babies of enemies. Num 31:17, Deut 20:13, Psalm 137:9, Lev 26:29.
--Adulterers. Lev 20:10.
--Homosexuals. Lev 20:13.
--A woman who is not a virgin when married. Deut 22:13-21.
--Those who are careless with murderous livestock. Exodus 21:29.

Who You Should Hate

--Those who eat crab or shrimp. Lev 11:10.
--Those who sacrifice an animal to God that has a blemish. Deut 17:1.
--Those who remarry the same person after divorce. Deut 24:4.
--Homosexuals. Lev 18:22.
--Those who are proud. Prov 16:5.
--A woman who wears pants. Deut 22:5.
--A man with long hair (Jesus?). 1Cor 11:14 contradicts Num 6:5, 1Sam 1:11, Jug 13:5.
--Those who call others fools Mat 5:22

Should we still do this stuff?

--All OT laws still apply in NT. Matt 5:17-19

----------
And the normal brainless whine does not apply - that they are all "out of context" - go back and look them up. Each is clearly a command.

But Micaela, you hope MORE "Bible People" move here? I certainly don't! I'd recommend moving to Mississippi or such a place if you want higher 'Bible People' density!

Just for your information, Micaela, the so called 'Bible People' aka The Twelve Tribes, have been characterised as a 'Messianic Cult', rather than a mainstream religious group. They are originally from Tennessee.
