These B & E are the unhappy customers that sleep all day and are up all night. Maybe you should open all night to help out these nocturnal creatures. Why do they call it DOPE

There's no reason to assume drugs are involved. From the locations hit, this is someone local. From the lack of anything else taken but cash, this is someone who is showing restraint. A drug-crazed thief breaking into a bar will grab some of the liquor, or breaking into Main Street Arts will take articles to sell or trade for the drugs.

You're most likely looking for someone with young children to feed who can't find a job. What we need is a government jobs program to assure full employment for our youth, until our economy fully recovers. Without that, we're going to see more cases of people stealing to feed their kids. Nationally, 1 in 8 families had times with too little food over the last year.

It is more than likely druggies, to suggest poor people are doing B&Es to feed themselves is ridiculous. How would they afford the gas or are they poor and stupid. Your socialism is showing.

Whit, you wish. It would fit nicley into a worldview that demonizes capitalism. Show me a starving mother and child around here and I'll kiss your butt. This was a twenty something punk dirtbag who thinks he's a gangster.

Crime always increases around the holidays. We're looking at people who need the money for presents and such. I doubt they are robbing to pay their bills. Petty crime is almost always related to people who need the money for drugs as well. It will only escalate, so get ready and make sure your doors are locked and stay out of dark alleys. This past week in Burlington people were being robbed by others who actually had their children in the car when they did it!

Its sad that any business or community suffer the indignation of their home being violated, we never feel safe again.
Mike Ghia has been on the conservation committee that has made recommendations about shutting off some street
lights in all of Rockingham, might now be a good time to hold off and revisit this issue?

VTSP is telling business owners and property dwellers to install motion lights and alarms.

Cash buys drugs. I truly wish I could share your Robin Hood idealism.

Where are all the police. For a little while VSP was seen out there in SR area but that stopped. I believe BFPD once offered service but was told they weren't needed. Better rethink the neighborhood watch groups. They are not working. Who cares what the reasons are for these burglaries or what type of people they are, the fact remains the villages are not protected by the very people we pay to protect us.
