The best of luck. It will be a long, slow and expensive project that's off to a great start.

Great to know there is a source of local meat not raised on factory farms,

Great job Andy Hertel.More of us should be doing things like this. Maybe not on a large scale as Andy, but maybe as a backyard farmer raising our onw vegetables and maybe even 3 or 4 chickens for our own fresh eggs. I'm sure that Fitchburg's city council will look over the ordaninaces and try to make this happen when ever possible. Again my best to Andy Hertel.

I think what he means is that if the business fails then the cows will not be slaughtered and they will have a chance to live.

I have known Andy for more than 20 years. He is one of the most ethical and honest people around with a fantastic family. Thank goodness there are people like him willing to take a risk and start a farm.

Local farming is not an easy life and I cannot see many people working as hard as farmers do, for such little returns or payback. Local farming is a huge gamble, sometimes of life savings and nothing but a huge pain having to deal with weather, various bugs, rodents, and plant diseases

Not only is Andy a steward of the land, but also a solid contributor to the town and community as a whole.

Keep going Andy you deserve all the support and praise you can get

It is nice to see someone acknowledge another person in a forum. Too many times these forums are full of negativity, thanks for writing something positive.
I think Kerri is the wife of Andy? I worked with Kerri at Digital in Westminster and she was a real nice person.
With energy supply issues a risk in the near future, having local sources of food is going to be more critical.

Weather you like it or not - Farmers are what keeps us all alive. Without them there would be no meat, milk, grains, vegatables or other products to sustain the human race.

I am not a "HE" and no, I am NOT a member of PETA. I even think PETA goes TOO far....but I like what they stand for.
