I'm concerned that people are focusing on unsubstantiated innuendos and rumors of a persons personal life of which has nothing to do with his job performance. The fact is that Mr. Culkeen works tirelessly at his job, this is a 24/7 job and he never backs away. He has brought this school to the next level. You should try running a multi million dollar company with 200 employees(State employees)and see if someone won't accuse you of being a Napolen!! He's made some unpopular decisions in his tenure at Monty tech but they were necessary durning these challenging economic times with countless cutbacks in State and Federal aid. Let's add to that having to prepare budgets for 18 different communities and 22 school committee members, that's like answering to 22 bosses, thanks but having one boss is bad enough! So why do you, Helen Keller in Lowell ( a bit out of the district) and you, former(obviously disgruntled, probably let go) employee focus on all the good he does and stop spreading vicious and unfounded rumors that attack Mr. Culkeens character and that of his staff... Stop listening to your teenage children, I wouldn't consider them to be a good source.
Joe, Are you for real?
Iíll begin by openly admitting that I do know Mr. DeSimone although not as well as many of you out there who have read this thread and have not found it necessary to speak up on his behalf. Iím not worried about protecting my personal gain at the expense of someone else. My post name is my real name. Perhaps you too should do the same.
Those of you who do know Mr. DeSimone can better attest to the caliber of person he is. His personal and professional characters are being tarnished here by speculations of ďwhat he didĒ a few weeks ago. Many of you (staff, administrators and school committee members) know that this is not about what the principal did; itís about a maniacal, narcissistic superintendent whose only concern is retaining power over others and promoting himself!
The real issues;
No one really care who Culkeen sleeps with, the issue here is conduct unbecoming of a superintendent. He is having an affair with a subordinate, not someone who is in another school district.
What advancements personal and professional (pay, career advancement, status) is this person getting from Culkeen? As Concerned Parent mentioned ďher current position which is from what I hear just ones step under Culkeen... She had more authority than the prinicpal.Ē This defies conventional wisdom.
The Principal vacancy seems to be an ongoing issue. Most people have considered the fact that prior applicants just were not qualified. Mr. DeSimoneís professional accomplishments in education and his prior achievements for his school districts lead many of us (parents, teachers and his colleagues) to believe this would be the last of the vacancy. This position once again is vacant. Doesnít this warrant further investigation?
Consider the problem Culkeen and not the prior principals.
Culkeenís professional license requires that among other things, he;
Acts with integrity, fairness, and professionalism
Holds teachers, students, and self to high standards of performance and behavior
Meets his or her legal and moral responsibilities
Yes the School Committee must look in to this matter deeply and they need to act this time rather than sweeping this under the rug as they have done in the past.
For the rest of you who know more than you let on, and yet hide behind these posts under pseudo names. Donít you think itís time to step it up? Call your school committee member and demand a full investigation into these matters.
Nothing at Monty is going to change if you continue to hide. Culkeen will still be in charge and the next article might be about you!
